DEFCON is an online, competitive, multiplayer strategy game based around the theme of global thermonuclear war. The game, inspired by the 1983 cult-classic Wargames, superbly evokes the tension, paranoia and suspicion surrounding the Cold War era. The player assumes the role of a General hidden deep within an underground bunker, his mission being to successfully exterminate the enemy’s civilian population whilst simultaneously disabling the enemy’s ability to retaliate. Desperate attempts must be made to form fast, tactical alliances - alliances that may at any moment break-down to become treacherous and very deadly betrayals.

To take part in the DEFCON freeplay weekend, simply head to http://www.everybody-dies.com/downloads/ and download the free trial. For this limited period, the usual demo restrictions will be lifted and gamers will not be required to provide key codes to have access to the full game.

"DEFCON is a great game and this will be a fantastic opportunity for those who haven't yet played it to have a go," said Vicky Arundel, Head of Marketing at Introversion. "We're really looking forward to welcoming some newcomers to the DEFCON community and hope that this taster will leave you wanting to come back again."

DEFCON for PC is currently available to buy from Introversion's online store http://store.introversion.co.uk/ and from Steam http://www.steampowered.com. DEFCON for Mac is available for purchase from Ambrosia Software's web site at http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/defcon/.
