Former 'World of Warcraft' Dev In Charge of Red 5 Studios' Creative Direction

Independent online game development studio Red 5 Studios, made up of key talent behind Blizzard's World of Warcraft, announced today that Mark Kern has moved into a new role as Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, where he will lead the technical and design efforts for the studio’s titles.

In this position, Kern will draw on his world-class game development experience to lead the technical and design efforts for the studio’s titles. Michael Weingartner, previously Red 5’s Vice President of Engineering, has been appointed President and CEO of the company.

“We founded this studio with one goal in mind: make the ‘next big thing.’ In my new role I will be able to focus more closely on my true passion, which is game development,” said Mark Kern, Chairman and CCO, Red 5 Studios. “Michael Weingartner’s talents are well suited to help guide the company to its new phase of growth and opportunity.”

In his new role, Kern will be responsible for the overall creative direction of Red 5’s unannounced project and future games, while Weingartner will handle the day to day operations of the studio.
