'SOCOM' (PS3) v1.30 Patch Will Add New Features And Trophies

by Rainier on Dec. 9, 2008 @ 3:14 p.m. PST

SOCOM Confrontation focuses on online play and the global community and clans with support for Tournaments, Clan Ladders, Leader Boards, as well as the ability to modify their appearance through facial and physical customization. SOCOM Confrontation deploys with five new North African themed maps, including a 32-player version of "Crossroads."

The SOCOM: Confrontation v1.30 fixes :

  • SOCOM Awards and PSN Trophies: In-game, you can see the three different types SOCOM Awards (performance, service and weapons) by going to Records and then Awards from the main menu. Both the progress towards achieving each part of the award as well as what type of PSN trophy the award will unlock (Bronze, Silver or Gold) are shown by an icon. You can only collect trophies by playing in ranked games, so they really mean something.
  • New dive to prone character move: the dive to prone has been enhanced significantly in the SOCOM: Confrontation 1.30 update and is now very similar to previous SOCOM games. The dive to prone is much quicker and you carry momentum forward. It is much easier to quickly get into a good prone position or dive for the deck.
  • Revised Lefty control preset and the addition of the Scout preset: Aiming for the Lefty preset is now handled with the left analog stick and movement with the right analog stick. Based on consumer feedback, we've also added the Scout control preset to the game.
  • Selecting items from the radial menu more reliable: you no longer have to precisely hold the analog stick in the direction of the item while releasing the button, it is more forgiving now.
  • Stackable gear items: if you have two sets of frag grenades in your inventory you no longer have to select them independently. Identical items are now grouped together for use, though they still take up two inventory slots.
  • The D-Pad lean: you now have the option to use either the motion controlled lean, lean using the d-pad or both, making this as flexible as possible. The motion sensor lean is still more analog and flexible, but the d-pad lean is quicker and more predictable.
  • Transparent scoreboard: based on feedback from the SOCOM Community, the scoreboard is now transparent and players are be able to continue to move while it is displayed, so that if you hold down the select button the scoreboard will be displayed on screen, it is transparent and you can continue to move.

The SOCOM: Confrontation v1.20 fixes :

  • Fixed many issues which would cause the game to crash, hang, disconnect and exit to the PS3 XMB.
  • Fixed an issue which would cause large numbers of players in a high player count game to be simultaneously disconnected.
  • Fixed an issue which would cause players to be invincible.
  • Fixed a physics issue which would cause players to occasionally "warp" around on the map.
  • Fixed an issue where a "corrupt save data" message would be incorrectly displayed after updating the game.
  • Fixed some player model issues related to team swapping.
  • Client/server optimization.
  • Fixed an issue where the scope camera had an incorrect offset from the barrel of the gun while prone or leaning/peeking.

For players who have already downloaded and installed the 1.10 update, the 1.20 update is only ~50MB in size. For new players, the size is the 1.10 update plus the 1.20 update which is ~550MB.
