'Global Agenda' Making Its Public Debut At Cancer Benefit Event

by Rainier on Sept. 25, 2008 @ 10:36 a.m. PDT

A departure from the traditional online settings of high fantasy, outer space, or military, Global Agenda, powered by the Unreal Engine 3, is set on 22nd century Earth. An invisible war is fought not with armies, but with elite teams of highly trained and well-equipped special agents, where technology is a race, knowledge is power, and everyone has an agenda.

In the wake of severe global disaster, the political face of 22nd century earth has changed. Player created factions scheme against each other for power while simultaneously opposing a totalitarian world government bent on domination. Traditional full-scale wars a thing of the past, factions must rely on covert agencies, teams of elite special operatives able to seize and defend key facilities. The future of humanity is their battleground, where knowledge is power, technology is a race, and everyone has an agenda.

The players are truly in control of Global Agenda, forging alliances with their peers and executing lightning strikes against their enemies. They determine which factions to aid and which to oppose, while the only thing that stands in their way is other agencies.

In a campaign to raise money to help find a cure for cancer, Hi-Rez Studios announced the first public preview of its MMO game, Global Agenda, at an all-day event benefiting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, whose goal is to cure blood cancer and improve the quality of life for its patients.

Mission: Pwning for a Cure will be held at Computer ArenA in Roswell, Georgia on Saturday, November 8th from 12-5pm. The event, co-sponsored by the Georgia Department of Economic Development's Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office, will include hours of Global Agenda matches, game development seminars, a silent auction, raffles, prizes, music, and food. Hi-Rez Studios will also provide attendees with the unique opportunity to register for the invitation-only At-Home Alpha Testing Program and join the Global Agenda community.

"Hi-Rez Studios is a pioneer in Georgia's booming video game development industry," says Bill Thompson, Deputy Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development's Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Office. "As the first public showing of Global Agenda, this event is both a milestone for Hi-Rez's project and fully supports the state's efforts to grow Georgia's entertainment industries."

Computer Arena, the Southeast's largest gaming facility, offers more than 50 PC and console LAN gaming stations, computer education classrooms, sales and services, and the Good Times Café.

The event will conclude with an all-star battle between the day's top scorers and a team of Hi Rez employees. Test your skills against the developers themselves!

All-access admission into the event is free to the public. Donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society are encouraged and greatly appreciated.
