'Racers' Islands: Crazy Racers' Gets North America WiiWare Date

by Rainier on Oct. 1, 2010 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT

Racers' Islands: Crazy Racers is a racing game featuring six different and unique islands serve as a background for the 20 tracks present in the game. Not only will you need driving skills, but you should also consider precision as the game allows the player to target precisely other players and adversaries with the Wii Remote while driving.

Specifically designed for the Wii system, this unusual gameplay offers a real learning curve while remaining accessible to everyone. Six colorful characters are playable, each with his/her own car and unique weapon. Many power-ups can be found along the tracks and a 4 player mode in split-screen is also present.

The universe of Racers’ Islands : Crazy Racers, previously known under the codename Shoot the drivers : Project 1, will also be presented through a comic book. The idea is to explore and to expand the game’s background further.

Lights! Camera! Action!

In Crazy Racers, a good driver is nothing without his favorite weapon. One needs to know how to stand up for himself to burn the asphalt without biting the dust! Every competitor of this gigantic TV show will have to prove that being a road racer is better when you’re a crack shot. Which one of them will honor his country and become a real champion?

You have to shoot your opponents while driving. This gameplay is perfectly adapted to the Wii controllers. Control the vehicle with the Nunchuk; aim, fire and reload your weapon thanks to the Wii Remote. It remains to be seen if you can control both at the same time, or if you prefer to share the commands with a friend!

Twenty cracked circuits

The same footage unveils the circuits in a new light. Fully 3D-designed sets present the countries from which each character comes from, with a lot of humor and self-mockery! There are lost temples of Mexico to visit, while Russian babushka dolls and French croissants are everywhere by the side of the road. There are twenty different races in the game so you can rediscover the islands from all the different angles.

Pick up items to rank first

Finally, just like any good and funny racing game, many bonuses are scattered across the ground. Embarrass your competitors with shields, bombs and soap! Use speed boosts wisely to avoid shots and to overtake your opponents. In Racers' Islands, you can also collect screw nuts in specific places, in order to store up additional points in championships.

Racers’ Islands: Crazy Racers will let you embody one of 6 hero characters, each with his/her own vehicle and favorite weapon

The originality of the gameplay relies on the fact that it doesn’t focus exclusively on driving cars. You will also have to target and shoot with the character’s weapons if you want to mount the podium!

A brand new gameplay perfectly adapted to the accessibility of the Wii. Aim and shoot with your Wii Remote, drive with your Nunchuk. It’s up to you to climb a genuine learning curve! It might sound hard to handle both at the same time, but don’t panic! You can share the load with friends: one has the wheel while the other pulls the trigger.
