'Verdun' Gets Early Access Content Update - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on May 21, 2014 @ 2:15 p.m. PDT

Verdun is a squad-based, multiplayer first-person shooter set during World War I and inspired by the infamous battle of Verdun in 1916. Players are able to take part in never-before-seen WWI action.

Verdun includes many historically accurate features such as true WW1 weaponry, historical maps based on sectors of the Western Front and authentic characters. The game immerses you both graphically and auditory into one of the bloodiest conflicts fought in Europe.

The true trench warfare offers a unique battlefield for tactical squad play in the Frontlines game mode and rifle Deathmatch. The Frontlines game mode is unique in its tactical complexity, where players are leveling in different types of squads, each with their own tactics and roles. The realistic trenches create an extra challenge for the players, where teamwork and tactical cunning are essential for success, which is; dominate the trenches in the Western Front!

A major update has been made to the game Verdun, after receiving valuable player feedback.

The game has a fancy new graphical user interface which will vastly improve the player’s experience, especially the ability to play together in a squad has been made more prominent. Another improvement is the addition of distinctive German and French voices, which greatly strengthens the World War 1 atmosphere of the game.

Most exciting for players will be the introduction of a whole new map, inspired by the battle of Ypres; Flanders! Probably the muddiest battlefield you’ve ever fought in and a real challenge due to its scale. Also, some enhancements are made on the Vosges map and the balancing of the weapons. And lastly but not least, Verdun integrated the Steam Trade Card feature for a full Steam experience. Players can earn virtual cards in Verdun which can be turned into game badges and tradable Steam community items.

As a sneak peek for the next update; we’re expecting more authentic World War 1 characters…

With one more update coming up, Blackmill Games and M2H have decided on a summer release, coinciding with the World War 1 centenary that is coming up. Verdun has been in Steam Early Access then for almost a year which has been a great opportunity to get the final touch done.

Key Features:

  • Realistic World War 1 setting – WW1 art, character leveling, weaponry, accurate French and Belgium maps
  • Tactical squad-based FPS – squad compiling and leveling
  • True trench warfare – real-time dynamic frontline
  • WW1 atmosphere – typical WW1 music, the grim level style and an authentic user interface
