'Interstellar Marines' Free All Week On Steam

by Rainier on Feb. 9, 2015 @ 6:53 p.m. PST

Interstellar Marines resurrects the old-school tactical FPS. It offers a blend of co-op, role-playing and nonlinear gameplay. You take on the role as an elite soldier who's been chosen to join Project IM, a top-secret military program to protect mankind from the dangers outside our solar system.

Interstellar Marines is a FPS that offers players a unique blend of tactical co-op, progressive role-playing and nonlinear gameplay, built to AAA standards within the powerful Unity platform.

The game is set in a near future where mankind has begun colonizing interstellar space and must prepare for a potential encounter with another sentient species. The player will assume the role of a candidate soldier for the Interstellar Marines program, training for enlistment within a secret facility hidden deep beneath the salty expanse of Groom Lake, Nevada.

With uncompromising first person immersion and an emphasis on tactical, non-linear, and multi-solution gameplay, the Interstellar Marines experience is also anchored by a robust role-playing system. Assign and tweak progressive skills, customize equipment for specialized roles, and engage in both story and action-driven character development.

“Interstellar Marines is at the stage where we want to invite people in to try it out and investigate the universe we are building”, said Kim Haar Jørgensen, Creative Director of Interstellar Marines.“Having a free week on Steam ensures we can do that with the widest possible audience. We’re really proud of how far we’ve reached, and we think Interstellar Marines is at the perfect stage to ask the wider gaming community to come and have a look.”

“Recently we’ve added a huge amount of new features and content”, continued Jørgensen. “For example last week’s update included many community-requested features, it greatly enhanced tactical movement and also introduced a brand new tutorial level. Over the last six months we have made substantial additions to Interstellar Marines, such as adding co-op, releasing many new missions and introducing three new game modes.”

To play Interstellar Marines during the free week simply open up Steam, go to your Game Library and install. The game is available in Windows, Mac and Linux versions and is free to install and play until February 16th.
