'Atomega' Content Update Adds New Maps, Features

by Rainier on Nov. 21, 2017 @ 10:01 a.m. PST

Atomega is a new online multiplayer FPS which takes place at the very end of time where reality is rapidly dissolving.

All that exists are Exoforms, super advanced post-biological lifeforms, masters of matter and energy and the last distant relative to man and machine. As the laws of physics slowly repeal, the Exoforms fight for fun and dominance, replaying the final moments of the universe in an arena at the edge of destruction.

The player must acquire mass, by peacefully collecting it or via firefights, to evolve his Exoform from the nimble Atom to the godlike Omega. Competing for mass, players engage in a frantic battle for supremacy through intense 10-minute rounds gathering up to 8 players. Acquiring mass also grants points and the player with the most points at the end of the round wins. It is a relentlessly competitive experience, an easy to pick-up but hard to master game, with a light-hearted tone echoing the personality of its small development team.

Atomega has received new content.

Since release, four new arena variants have been added to the original experience, each introducing new tactics needed to dominate a match.

  • Temple – Mass falls from the sky as arenas collide bringing close-combat battle for the spoils in and around the central temple.
  • Void – A tower-maze of futuristic neon poised above the abyss. A risky dash into the centre can bring big rewards for those who dare.
  • Ascent – A golden Olympus of intricate design. Tiered levels create a constant dilemma of keeping the high ground advantage or descending to battle for mass.
  • Limbo - passageways lead into a central fight pit, plunging players into intense brawling battles. Only the toughest will succeed by dominating their opponents and holding the central area.

In addition to these new maps, the main new gameplay feature introduced to the game is the Nemesis system. If an opponent player is repeatedly attacking you they will become your Nemesis. This places a target on them allowing you to track their movement throughout the map. Use this visibility to avoid them or track them down and exact your revenge for extra points.

Developed by Reflections, in the same small incubator which created Grow Home and Grow Up, Atomega was made with a creatively experimental mind-set, deliberately seeking to create unusual concepts which will surprise and delight players.

Atomega is currently available as digital download through Steam for $9.99.
