'Gwent: The Witcher Card Game' (ALL) Open Beta Begins Next Week

by Rainier on May 17, 2017 @ 9:40 a.m. PDT

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is a free-to-play card game that puts you, not your cards, in the center of the action.

In Gwent, gamers clash with their friends in fast-paced duels that combine bluffing, on-the-fly decision making and careful deck construction. The game is played over a best-of-three series of rounds, as players unleash their hand by slinging spells and diverse units with special abilities and use clever tricks to deceive their opponents.

The public beta for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is scheduled to begin May 24, and will be available for PC, Xbox One and PS4.

“Public Beta is the next step in the game’s development process, one that we’d be honored to continue alongside everyone who’s been with us thus far,” said Benjamin Lee, Development Director at CD Projekt RED. “It’s also a chance for many new gamers to play GWENT for the first time and we’re looking forward to making the game even better with their help,” added Lee.

Watch the Public Beta overview live on the official CD Projekt RED Twitch channel, which will start today (May 17) at 9 p.m. CEST.

GWENT’s Public Beta is a fresh start for everyone. Card collections and player progress will reset to ensure gamers begin on equal footing. Everyone who participated in the Closed Beta will receive Card Kegs, as well as other in-game rewards for their activity. Additional information regarding Closed Beta participation rewards is available here.

The switch from Closed to Public Beta will entail a short technical transition period starting May 22. Until the start of Public Beta on May 24, game servers will be offline for maintenance.

Gwent is currently available in Closed Beta, players wishing to participate in the beta can register on the official website.
