by Rainier on Oct. 4, 2018 @ 12:00 a.m. PDT

Vox Machinae is a VR-supporting giant robot combat action simulation, playable offline, on a local network, or online with up to 16 players.

Earth's resources have been depleted. People try to migrate to where there is work, but many end up detained in border camps living off what scraps the governments are able to provide. Powerful corporations explore the heavens in search of raw materials. You are one of the lucky few to be a certified pilot, able to take on the distant mining jobs. The rough alien landscapes can only be navigated by enormous walking robots called GDRs or "Grinders". Rivalry between the corporations is heating up, your job is about to get alot more dangerous.

Duke it out in glorious online multiplayer battles. Free-for-all deathmatch, team-based skirmishes, and scenarios provide variety.

Throw your weight around and take advantage of the physics simulation powering Vox Machinae to get the drop on your enemy, literally. Break through the enemy's armour plates and hull to expose the critical systems inside. Target weak points to do maximum damage, giving you the edge to survive.

Vox Machinae brings you a variety of settings on which to engage in machine warfare. From arid desert worlds to swampy caverns, you can see it all. With natural beauty, naturally comes deadly hazards. Scorching sun, blinding dust storms, acid rain, and winding caverns are just some of the dangers awaiting you. Each contested planet is rich with minerals, and mining outposts dot the landscape. Competing corporations want those minerals too, so get ready for a fight.

Vox Machinae is available on Early Access NOW, you can purchase the game on Oculus Store or Steam, and with official support for Vive/Rift/WMR as well as desktop PC, everyone can fight together.

"It’s been an epic 4+ year journey for our 3-man team to take Vox from a prototype demo to the fleshed out game it is today. We’re so thrilled to finally share the game with everyone as we continue to develop Vox Machinae and further establish it as the best stompy robot VR game around."

In Vox Machinae, your Grinder's cockpit is your home away from home. A lovingly detailed interior will make you forget about the real world and accept your new life as a rugged Grinder pilot. Its form may be nice, but this cockpit is also fully functional. Playing in VR, you can grab the controls to take command and rain down fiery destruction on your enemies. Feel your machine come to life as you turn the ignition key and the blast shield creaks open. Work the throttle and steering to maneuver, and grab the jump jet stick to take to the skies.

No health bars needed. Vox Machinae's damage and destruction system allows you to quickly assess damage and target an enemy's weak points.

From the panic-inducing clanks of minigun fire impacting your hull to the satisfying thud of every footstep you take, Vox Machinae will keep your ears in auditory bliss. For headphone users, binaural spatialization wraps the audible world around you. Vox Machinae also supports speaker setups from stereo to surround. An emotional and dynamic 80’s-inspired synthy soundtrack sets the pace to all the action. It adjusts perfectly to match gameplay situations at hand. Hear melodies swell as you mount a last-ditch run with your allies, or the looming danger beats of being heavily outnumbered deep into enemy territory.

The AI keeps those solitary space-blues away, in addition to having many practical functions that you will come to rely on such as informing you of mission objectives and updates. Upon arriving on a new planet you'll know the atmospheric conditions, as well as any environmental hazards. In combat, the AI provides essential information such as warnings, damage reports, and pointing out enemy weak points. Outside of missions, you can count on the AI for pilot training and the occasional joke.
