'Total War: Warhammer II' Curse of the Vampire Coast DLC Announced, Dated - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 4, 2018 @ 1:40 p.m. PDT

Total War: Warhammer II takes the strategy game series to a realm of grand high fantasy, this time unveiling the mystery-shrouded continents far to the west of The Old World.

Featuring four iconic new races from the Warhammer Fantasy Battles world – the High Elves, Dark Elves, Lizardmen, and The Skaven – players will battle across enchanted isles, bleak hinterlands, treacherous swamps, and perilous jungles.

In a Total War campaign like no other, players will struggle for dominion over the ailing Great Vortex that has swirled for millennia above the elven homeland of Ulthuan. Performing a series of arcane rituals, each race must save or disrupt the Vortex according to their motivations – a struggle culminating in a cataclysmic endgame. Territorial conquest is no longer enough… this is a race for control that will define the fate of the world!

Total War: Warhammer II will offer hundreds of hours of immersive gameplay in this epic new campaign.

Shortly after launch, owners of both the original game and Total War: Warhammer II will gain access to the colossal new combined campaign. Merging the landmasses of The Old World plus Naggaroth, Lustria, Ulthuan and the Southlands into a single epic map, players may embark on monumental campaigns as any owned Race from both titles.

As night falls on Lustria's easterly coast, the sea-mists part to reveal a vision of purest dread: the decaying pirate galleons of the Vampire Coast!

Playable in both the Eye of the Vortex and Mortal Empire campaigns, the Curse of the Vampire Coast introduces four Legendary Pirate Lords to Total War: WARHAMMER II, each hell-bent on becoming the very paragon of infamy! With hordes of musket-wielding zombie deckhands, horrific maritime monsters and ghoulish revenants, a new Lore of Magic, pirate-style campaign mechanics and unique new methods of customization, players have an armory of new tools to command. All within a heavily themed campaign experience culminating in a spectacular endgame battle.

The erratic power of the Great Vortex has awoken Amanar, a vast and ancient Merwyrm. It terrorizes the Vampire Coast, attacking ports on a whim and summoning colossal sea-storms in its wake. Each of the Legendary Lords seeks not to harness the power of the Vortex, but to locate and empower the fabled Star-Metal Harpoon – the only weapon capable of bending the beast to their will, and securing their reputation as the most infamous pirate lord on the high seas!

The Curse of the Vampire Coast Campaign Pack contains:

  • 4 new Legendary Lords
  • New Lore of Magic: The Lore of the Deep
  • New roster: command towering constructs, ghastly pincered sea-beasts, ghoulish horrors and musket-wielding piratical zombie hordes in battle!
  • A suite of all-new campaign mechanics:
    • Treasure Maps: Find treasure maps and dig for booty
    • Ship Building: Upgrade each Legendary Lord’s unique ship
    • Infamy: Rule the waves to become the most infamous pirate of all
    • Pirate Coves: Establish hidden enclaves in your enemies settlements
    • Fleet Offices: Reward your undead Admirals with positions of power to improve their loyalty
    • Pieces of Eight: Sail the seas to unlock eight new Regiments of Renown
  • New battle mechanics:
    • More Powder: Use your Heroes to keep your gun-lines topped up with ammo
    • Extra Powder: While black powder is plentiful, each unit will benefit from a variety of missile-related buffs

Even if you don’t purchase Curse of the Vampire Coast, their pirate captains and forces will appear in game as AI controlled enemies, drastically changing the kind of opposition you will face in game and providing a fresh grand campaign challenge for you.

Additionally, we’ll also be releasing a major update to the Vampire Counts factions in Mortal Empires, empowering them with new mechanics and revised skills and abilities.

And last but not least, there will be a Free-LC release alongside, a magnificent new Legendary Lord for use in Eye of the Vortex and Mortal Empires. More news soon.

Curse of the Vampire Coast can be pre-ordered here, while Total War: Warhammer II is 33% off during this weekend's fantasy sale on Steam.

Curse of the Vampire Coast will be released on November 8th 2018

Total War: Warhammer II is currently available for PC.
