'Runner3' (ALL) PS4 Release Date Set For Next Week - Trailer

by Rainier on Nov. 6, 2018 @ 4:17 p.m. PST

Runner3 is the next chapter in the Bit.Trip Runner series and continues the endless platforming adventures of the stoic, unflappable Commander Video.

With each step and each driving beat, the “hero in high tops” must advance through the numerous colorful and challenging worlds in rhythm with the game’s infectious soundtrack. Runner3 includes some surprising new features, like branching paths, item shops and vehicles that CommanderVideo can use to get from one area to another as well as new playable characters, new gameplay modes, new moves and an assortment of Hero Quests and Retro Challenges.

Runner3 follows in the flamboyant footsteps of its predecessors with level after level of auto-running fun. You’ll jump, slide, kick, bounce and boogie your way past enemies and obstacles in an effort to stop the terrible, treacherous, troublemaking Timbletot!

Dauntless dashing, however, is only the beginning. As you rush past giant foodstuffs, through haunted amusement parks and across industrial landscapes, you’ll ride creatures and vehicles (including a mine cart, a giant grub and…a flying eggplant!?), explore branching paths, snag collectibles, earn new outfits and battle quirky bosses. And the courageous commander isn’t alone—CommandgirlVideo gets in on the action too, as do numerous friends, top-secret guest stars and Dave. And let’s not forget the trusty Narrator, Mr. Charles Martinet (who’s best known as the voice actor for a certain Koopa-stomping video-game hero, you know which one we’re talking about).

But wait, there’s more! In addition to regular stages and so-tough-your-head-might-explode challenge stages, the game features three worlds’ worth of retro-style platforming levels, complete with boss encounters—if you have the skills to unlock them.

Runner3 is coming to PS4 on Nov. 13, 2018 for $19.99, with a planned 50% discount for the first two weeks of release to celebrate our 10th anniversary as a company!

When Runner3 first launched, some people mentioned they missed the difficulty options from Runner2. This made a lot of sense to us, which is why we’ve worked to make sure they’re included from here on out. And you can get real granular with them, including toggling enemy density, adding more checkpoints to levels, and getting assistance with perhaps the most treacherous villain in all of Runner history: The Stairs.

Players have also requested the ability to “self-bonk” in the game, and who are we to say no? If you’re going for a perfect run in a level and miss a gold bar or a gem, briefly press L3 and R3 and voila. A bonking of your own creation.

These items only make up some of the improvements we’ve made to Runner3, however. Here’s a (still incomplete!) list of what players can expect:

  • All character moves are available from the start of the game – You can double-jump to your heart’s content!
  • Made the jump and avoid enemies/obstacles more forgiving – We love tinkering with hitboxes over here. We’re cuckoo bananas for it.
  • Added more on-screen communication regarding the Impossible Levels, the Retro Levels, and the overall difficulty of the game – Don’t say we didn’t warn you when you fire up one of the game’s nine “Impossible Levels.”
  • Added a “break” sound effect to kickwalls in addition to their musical tone – We received more requests for this than just about anything else. We were happy to oblige.

Key Features:

  • Players run and jump through each wacky world, punctuating the beat of the game’s infectious soundtrack with every step.
  • Optional branching paths lead to new areas that can be explored by adventure seekers and completionists.
  • In certain sequences, characters are able to command vehicles (like a flying eggplant!) in order to advance from one part of the level to another.
  • Additional playable characters, including CommandgirlVideo, enhance the story and the platforming adventure options.
  • The game introduces several new additions to the series, including Hero Quests, Retro Challenges, an item shop, new collectibles and more!
  • Features the voice acting talents of Charles Martinet, the legendary voice of Mario

Currently available on Nintendo Switch and PC, Runner3 is coming to PS4 on Nov. 13, 2018 for $19.99, with a planned 50% discount for the first two weeks of release to celebrate our 10th anniversary as a company!
