Building on the fast-paced action the series is famous for, Attack on Titan 2 is a gripping sequel that features an abundance of new gameplay mechanics.

Players will once again don the renowned Omni-Directional Manoeuver Gear as they fight and repel the fearsome Titans that threaten humanity, to restore peace within the walls.

Attack on Titan 2 delves deeply into the fascinating narrative of Attack on Titan’s second season and offers players versatile action and new challenges, as it introduces the newly improved omni-directional mobility gear offering advanced freedom of movement and targeting precision to counter enhanced Titan movements.

Delving deeper into the series’ fascinating narrative, the game will have fans experiencing the gripping events of the anime’s second season along with versatile action gameplay, all new challenges, and a wide selection of playable characters from Attack on Titan, including some new faces from the second season!

Koei Tecmo is introducing a selection of 30+ playable characters in Attack on Titan 2, while simultaneously unveiling the ability for players to create their own Custom Scout. They also confirmed that players will be able to play as; Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert, Levi, Miche Zacharias, Nanaba, Gelgar, Ymir and Christa Lenz.

Attack on Titan 2’s Digital Deluxe version will include the full game and a pack of unique costumes, which will be released on a weekly basis after the game’s release. Digital pre-orders of either the Digital Deluxe or standard versions on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will include a bonus pack of plain clothes costumes for Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Levi, Christa, Ymir, Reiner and Bertholdt. For PlayStation, it will include a bonus pack of plain clothes costumes for Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Levi, Christa, Ymir as well as six PlayStation avatars for Mikasa, Eren, Levi, Reiner, Christa and Erwin.

Those who purchase the game digitally on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch or PC via Steam within four weeks of the game’s launch will receive a bonus pack of plain clothes costumes for Eren, Mikasa, Armin and Levi.

These bonuses will allow additional modification of player’s playable characters as they relive the gripping narrative of the worldwide anime hit, ‘Attack on Titan’ – including a potential new perspective with their very own custom scout. In ATTACK ON TITAN 2, players can select their own custom scout – created through the Character Creation Studio - or one of their favorite characters from a roster of over 30.

Attack on Titan 2’s Buddy Actions are support options team members can offer to one another. These options include Rescue, Recovery, and Titan Transformation; the latter of which offers a team member the potential to unlock the power of Titans!

Not all features are support-focused however, with moves like hook drives resulting in a fast-paced ‘jump and evade’ style attacks and sneak attacks helping Scouts strategize and withhold powerful attacks for just the right moment. For sneak attacks to be successful, the Scouts have to remain undetected by Titans; a feat not so easily achieved if players linger too much in their gigantic foes’ field of vision. Balancing the gameplay even more, players will also be able to equip flash grenades, used to incapacitate Titans in danger zones. Items such as restraining guns can also assist in the capture of Titans.

Outside of the battle, Scouts will be able to replenish their gas, blades, and other supplies at Bases. Some bases also serve as safe havens as they are equipped with automated artillery towers that attack Titans.

Attack on Titan 2 will feature enhanced Titan movements and attacks, requiring more precise maneuvers from players. Additionally, it introduces the Monocular; allowing scouts better analyzation based on pinpointing Titan positions from afar and attack strategy utilizing their Omni-Directional Mobility Gear.

Outside of their excursions, Scouts can also deepen their relationships with fellow comrades by training and preparing for battle with the new and improved Town Life gameplay. Strengthening relationships is an important element of Attack on Titan 2, providing a greater insight into the series’ cast in a way that has yet to be experienced.

Players will be able to try their new moves against these fearsome Titans as they control characters from a Titan-sized roster! Outside of battle they will be able to deepen their relationships with their fellow squad-mates while gaining greater insight into life within the walls thanks to more advanced RPG elements.

The competitive multiplayer option, Annihilation Mode, sees two teams of four Scouts compete to earn the highest score within a set time limit. Defeating the devastating Titans is one of the most important ways to earn individual points and climb the leader board. Although, working together is also key as it can earn the team a Chain Bonus through destroying each Titan body part before subjugating them. Building and defending bases is also an efficient way of securing points. With select areas on the map allowing for base development, opposing teams will vie for the location – defending them is of utmost priority.

With Attack on Titan 2’s Annihilation Mode, stopping the opposing team’s progress can be a surefire way of turning the tides during a game. A selection of different items can be used to halt the enemy in their track, including Numbing Bullets which cause the player to be temporarily paralyzed, and Paint Bullets which briefly covers the opponents screen and mini-map. As a match draws to a climactic close, the stakes raise, as in the last minute any points earned are doubled. Within this time, it is imperative for players to work closely and earn as many points as possible to come out in the lead.

Online functionality is not only limited to competitive play, as players are able to take on missions co-operatively in Story Mode and Scout Missions. Gathering a team of close allies during these modes allows them to experience the gripping events while fighting against the Titan threat together.

In Attack on Titan 2, players are able to select one of their favorite characters from a roster of over 30; including their own Custom Scout or one of the newly announced additions - Keith Sadies, Kitz Woermann, Dhalis Zachary and Dot Pyxis. Alongside assets of these new exciting gameplay modes, KOEI TECMO America released a fresh selection of images providing a deeper look at the Character Creation Studio, and the various ways it can be used to create a unique Scout, Online Communication Features and Online Weapon Development.

Attack on Titan 2 will be released on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) in March 20, 2018.
