'Ash of Gods' Introduces The Reapers - Screens

by Rainier on Feb. 16, 2018 @ 9:27 a.m. PST

Ash of Gods is a mix between a roguelike role-playing visual novel and an online turn-based strategy game.

Ash of Gods is a turn-based RPG featuring constantly evolving storytelling with risks that truly affect gameplay, along with an extensive online PvP mode. The game features a story based on the complexity and ambiguity of moral choice where any of the characters in game can die. Momentary benefits may cost a character a life, while sacrifice will make the walkthrough of one of following episodes easier.

Ash of Gods features a mix of gorgeous art, lush music, tactical combat, and a powerful story that plays out via dialogue driven layer interaction. Depending upon a player's decisions, no two playthroughs of the game will be the same.

Along with a constantly evolving storyline, players will be treated to a fantastic visual and aural experience, featuring stunning hand-drawn characters and environments, coupled with music from Adam Skorupa, whose previous work includes The Witcher, Bulletstorm, Painkiller, and EVE Online.

How would you feel if every decision you made played a pivotal role in the survival of yourself and those around you? Sounds a little bit like real life, doesn’t it? In the upcoming narrative turn-based RPG Ash of Gods, that’s exactly what happens. Every playthrough of the game can be unique -  as your choices affect how things turn out!

A quiet, long-standing peace has been broken, and the lands of Terminum are set to face horrors like no other -- in the form of the Reapers, the harbingers of death, famine, plague...and the dreaded "Harvest."  The relentless, and some say soulless, Reapers, are just one of the many challenges players will face in Ash of Gods.

Developer AurumDust brings you a brief overview of the "worst" three of their kind - Dorpal, Atraa, and Adna. Thes villains are far from mindless killing machines, and their story will be intertwined with yours as you explore Terminum and create a unique story in the game.

Every few centuries, "The Harvest" takes on a horrific meaning to the people of Terminum. No more a time of plenty, when bringing in the crops lead to happy children, full stomachs and joyful festivals. This is the winter of the Reapers, relentlessly stalking the living and bringing pestilence, poison and flowing rivers of pain and blood. This is a harvest of death and despair.

The Reaper Dorphal comes as death incarnate, ruthless and utterly without compassion. If his sinister visage isn't enough to strike terror in those who see him, surely the darkness pouring out from his soul and through his eyes will.

Adna is a Reaper born of the harshest woodlands. Forest thickets, brambles, misty swamps, and bogs all sing her name. Her lean body is woven from dry roots and vines, and is held upright by her crutch which is her constant companion... it comes alive at her will, bringing death and endless pain to all.

Atraa appears to the living as a horrific monster. The scent of decay and rot is always upon him, and his thick hair is full of the soil of a thousand graves. His hands unleash ash that spreads plague upon whatever it touches. Layer upon layer of evil seeps from his very being, and his laughter alone inflicts insanity upon those who hear it.

Key Features:

  • "Roguelike" Storytelling: The dialogue choices you make, journey paths you choose, and battles you fight truly affect the story and the world around you. The team’s resources and time are limited—you must choose who should live and who must die in order to continue along your path. If you rush forward mindlessly, you will gradually lose your characters, including the major ones, but even the death of the party’s leader will not lead to “game over.”
  • PvP and PvE Multiplayer Modes: Live through the story and top the global ratings with your characters in the multiplayer mode. Unlock new characters and cards and upgrade them to build your own unique strategy and tactics. Create your own clans, join forces with friends and participate in the battles together.
  • Intelligent AI Functionality: The AI constantly learns from playing against you. No single tactic or formation will win against an AI that learns your playstyle!
  • Scrupulously Hand-Drawn Graphics: Visual stylings of the game are inspired by the work of Ralph Bakshi, old-school Disney cartoons, and 1960's-era Russian animation. Character animation in combat scenes are based on live actors’ motion capture.
  • New Approach to Tactical Strategy:  A mix of turn-based strategy and card RPG, where the cards determine your strategy and the characters’ classes determine your tactics on the battlefield

Ash of Gods is set to release in March 2018 for $24.99.
