'For Honor' (ALL) PC Dedicated Servers Coming Soon

by Rainier on Feb. 8, 2018 @ 9:25 a.m. PST

For Honor is a fast-paced, competitive experience mixing skill, strategy, and team play with visceral melee combat.

Carve a path of destruction through the battlefield fighting for guts, glory, and survival in For Honor, a new melee action game developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other Ubisoft studios.

Enter the chaos of a raging war as a knight, Viking, or samurai, three of the greatest warrior legacies. For Honor is a fast-paced and immersive experience, mixing skill with visceral, never-before-seen melee combat.

The Art of Battle, the game's innovative control system, puts you in total control of your heroes, each with distinct skills and weapons, as you annihilate all soldiers, archers, and opposing heroes who stand in your way on an intense, believable battleground.

For Honor offers an engaging campaign and thrilling multiplayer. Enjoy the full experience with friends online, in split-screen two-player co-op, or solo against AI.

Ubisoft announced that the dedicated server infrastructure will come to For Honor PC players on February 19. The servers will roll out to consoles soon after the implementation on PC, with exact release dates to be announced. Dedicated servers are introduced as one of the major updates coming to For Honor with the fifth season, titled Age of Wolves, which begins on February 15.

The implementation of the dedicated server infrastructure was announced last summer as part of For Honor’s continued development schedule. Following a successful Open Test in December that has allowed the team to gather data needed for the live release, the development teams are now ready to deploy the dedicated servers in For Honor. At launch, the dedicated servers will focus on PVP game modes and will fully remove the session migrations as well as the NAT requirements while eliminating most of the resyncing, resulting in a more stable experience and improved matchmaking. The development teams will closely monitor the situation to ensure a smooth transition for PC players before implementing the new infrastructure on consoles.

“Changing the online infrastructure while the game was live was a challenge, but a decisive step in improving the game experience of our players,” said Damien Kieken, Game Director. “The implementation of the dedicated servers gives us confidence in the direction the game is taking and will pave the way for a full year of continued support and new contents.”

In addition to dedicated servers, Age of Wolves will deliver major updates to five Heroes as well as several updates that will adjust player progression, ranked play and more. Celebrating the anniversary of the game, the launch of Age of Wolves will also coincide with the start of a 3-week special seasonal event during which players will get the opportunity to earn extra rewards. New training modes that will offer new and veteran players additional ways to hone their skills will be introduced to For Honor later on during Season Five.

Those looking for more info about the updates coming to Season Five can tune in to the Age of Wolves reveal livestream on February 8, starting at 11am PT. For the first time, livestream viewers will earn in-game rewards, known as Twitch Drops, just for tuning in to the stream. More information on these rewards can be found here.
