by Rainier on May 7, 2018 @ 6:29 a.m. PDT

In Pokémon GO, players around the globe will explore their real-world surroundings to find and catch wild Pokémon hiding in their midst.

The Pokémon GO Summer Tour 2018 is a series of immersive real-world Pokémon GO events and activities that will take place around the world. Pokémon GO Summer Tour 2018 will feature Pokémon GO Safari Zone Dortmund in Germany on June 30 and July 1, Pokémon GO Fest 2018: A Walk in the Park in Chicago on July 14 and 15 and a Safari Zone to be held in Yokosuka, Japan later in the summer. Each event will include unique ways for players around the world to create adventures of their own and complete challenges together. In addition, Community Day events will continue throughout the summer, offering bonuses and challenges for players around the world not attending the events.

“The Pokémon Go Summer Tour 2018 is set to bring Trainers together around the world for fun, exploration and adventure" said John Hanke, founder and CEO of Niantic, Inc. "After getting off to a bumpy start in Chicago last year, we hosted a number of record-setting events in Japan, Korea, and cities across Europe with attendance that ranged from tens of thousands to more than two million.  We are excited to to be returning to Chicago for our US event. It will take place in Lincoln Park and will feature in-game activities in the park and throughout the city as well as connected gameplay events around the world."

Pokémon GO Safari Zone Dortmund in Germany will take place in Westfalenpark, one of the largest inner-city parks in Europe on June 30 and July 1. Pokémon GO Safari Zone Dortmund will be free and open for all those who wish to attend to enjoy. Additional in-game activities will take place throughout Dortmund’s entire city district, giving players from all over Europe a chance to explore the rich cultural history through Pokémon GO. For detailed information on the Dortmund Safari Zone Event, please visit the event website.

In the United States, Niantic returns to Chicago for Pokémon GO Fest 2018: A Walk in the Park on July 14 and 15 in the city’s historic Lincoln Park, bringing with it a unique and immersive gameplay experience not seen in any of Niantic’s previous live events. The tree-lined, 1.8-mile walking course through the park will include physical installations and exclusive activities for Trainers of all ages, while the surrounding region of Chicago will see additional in-game activities and appearances of rare Pokémon. Tickets for the event will go on sale on May 11 at 9:00 A.M PDT for $20. For more information on Pokémon GO Fest 2018: A Walk in the Park, please visit the event website.

Later in the Summer, a special Pokémon GO Safari Zone event will take place in Yokosuka, Japan. Additional Community Day events will also continue throughout the summer and feature unique activities for Trainers. Details for the Japan event and the Community Days will soon be revealed here.

Trainers around the world unable to join the live Pokémon GO summer events will be able to participate and create adventures of their own through a variety of in-game activities and global challenges that will occur around each event. Announcements and updates on how players across the globe can participate in these challenges will be unveiled ahead of each event.

In addition to these special live Pokémon GO events and Community Day activities, Niantic will be working with civic and service-oriented organizations to host more events throughout the year.
