'Warhammer: Vermintide 2' (ALL) Clocks In At Two Million Players

by Rainier on Jan. 8, 2019 @ 8:40 a.m. PST

In Warhammer: Vermintide 2 it's time for players to return to the first-person co-op experience with intense melee action.

Set in the dark and grim Warhammer Fantasy world, you must join forces with up to three other players to tackle the endless hordes of enemies. Equipped with a variety of melee and ranged weapons, you and your team are all that stands between utter defeat and victory - and if you fall so will the Empire.

Vermintide 2 is a melee action game pushing the boundaries of the first person co-op genre. The game introduces the dark, bloody and twisted Chaos as an enemy faction. Other new features include 15 hero careers, new environments, talent trees and the proprietary Heroic Deeds System.

Independent developer Fatshark announced that Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has broken all expectations with over two million players from March 8 to December 31, 2018.

“We are humbled by the reception of Vermintide 2, and the amount of hours spent on showing Skaven and Chaos who’s the boss” says Martin Wahlund, CEO Fatshark. “We want to thank all the players, and we aim to bring more exciting - and perhaps unexpected - content throughout 2019.”

Since the release of Vermintide 2 on March 8, 2018, there has been a large number of free updates. Everything from challenges to weapons and cosmetics, as well as seasonal events, double XP, and Night Mode amongst others.

Two DLCs have been released during 2018. The first, Shadows over Bogenhafen, was released in August, and the latest, Back to Ubersreik, was released in December.

“It’s been a great year for Fatshark and Vermintide 2. During the last days of 2018, Vermintide 2 was part of a lot of ‘Best of’ lists, and we received several awards” says Martin Wahlund, CEO Fatshark “We also want to tip our hats to the streamers for the millions upon millions of hours broadcasted”.

This year will bring a lot of new content to the Vermintide 2 players. Fatshark recommends circling March 8 in the calendar, and joining them for the one year anniversary of Vermintide 2, with streams, giveaways, cake, and more.

Key Features:

  • Ruthless 4 Player Co-operative Experience: The combined forces of Chaos and Skaven are merciless, and it will require a co-ordinated team effort to survive their never-ending onslaught.
  • 5 Heroes with 15 Career Paths: Choose between 15 unique careers, each with different appearances, abilities, talents and weapon arsenals to best suit your preferred combat style.
  • Chaos and Skaven Working Together: Skaven and Chaos armies have formed a pact to plunge the world into death and decay, with horrifying specials and bosses.
  • Talent Trees & Progression: Level up, choose between specialized talents for your hero, and excel throughout the game.
  • The Adventure Continues: Explore a wide range of breathtaking new levels set in and around Helmgart, a fortress city protecting the Bretonnian border of the Empire.

  • Fight Overwhelming Enemy Hordes: Skaven prefer strength in numbers, and with the Chaos at their side the heroes must be prepared to overcome unimaginable odds.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is currently available for PC (Steam), Xbox One and PS4.
