'L.A. Funk' (ALL) Announced - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on April 9, 2019 @ 1:16 a.m. PDT

L.A. Funk is a blend of sidescrolling beat'em ups, guns and car chases wrapped in a unique 80's aesthetic.

It's 1980's Los Angeles, filled with flashing neon's and retro synth tunes, you are Jack Tatum, here to find out what happened to your journalist fiancé who has mysteriously vanished after stumbling upon something she shouldn't have. Your journey starts deep in Krips territory where you find yourself stuck in the middle of a gang war.

L.A. Funk is a new breed action arcade game that builds on the classic formulas and takes them into a new dimension. A unique change of angle seamlessly transitions the classic sidescrolling view into intense car chases along Sunset Boulevard.

Using a 2.5d style sidescrolling view, the beat'em up gameplay pays homage to the classics of the arcade like Streets of Rage and Double Dragon. Fight your way through the neighbourhood gangs; the 'Bluds' and 'Krips' and who knows what else as you try to uncover what happened to your fiancé.

Key Features:

  • 2.5d sidescroller beatemup action with multiple combos, counter attacks and finishers that is easy to pickup but difficult to master
  • Unlock an arsenal of devastating 'finishers' that can be used if timed right
  • Numerous weapons to find to help whack and shoot your way through difficult situations
  • Buy yourself a motorbike and ride off into the synthwave sunset whilst being chased by gangsters or corrupt police. Dodge through traffic and spray your uzi as you head towards the next breadcrumb
  • A unique 80's aesthetic that seamlessly blends the classic sidescroller action into the next dimension
  • All the way bob your head to the retrowave soundtrack by awesome sound designer Ryan Trebilcock

L.A. Funk is planned for a 2019 release on PC with consoles to follow at a later time.
