'Spacelords' (ALL) Team-Up or Die Update Adds New Content, Features - Trailer

by Rainier on May 31, 2019 @ 6:55 a.m. PDT

Spacelords is a multiplayer online asymmetric adventure where you fight the invaders by teaming up with other Raiders, or turn the tables and storm into battle with those invaders fighting at your side!

An incredible discovery on one of Saturn’s moons leads a force of humans to the Broken Planet on the far reaches of the Universe. A source of energy called Aleph exists there that grants ultimate power to whoever controls it…

However, the human forces split into factions and fight amongst themselves for dominion over the Aleph. The peaceful inhabitants of the planet are caught in the crossfire, but a hero emerges amongst them who hopes to lead his people to freedom…

Using nefarious means and exploiting the disunity amongst the human ranks, Harec recruits a rag tag group of rogues, outlaws and hired guns from the various factions and pits them against those who would destroy his people...

In Spacelords, become a Raider and join the battle both on and offline in awesome 3rd person Brawler-Shooter gameplay. Customise your character’s combat style in unique ways with special collectible cards. Use Aleph to your advantage, to power special abilities, but manage it properly or you will give away your position on the battlefield!

In Spacelords you pick your protagonist and work together with three other players in a counter-operative adventure. The biggest idea underpinning the game is something akin to Dark Souls, where a single player, The Antagonist, can invade a match just as it begins and choose to fight alongside the bad guys against the four-player human team. The goal of this Antagonist is simply to troll the good guys and prevent them from achieving their mission objectives.

MercurySteam launched Team-Up or Die, the third milestone in Spacelords’ Roadmap, adding demand-driven features meant to improve player communication in its coop games.

The new Communication System introduces the figure of the Team Leader, who can issue orders to the rest of the team. Players can accept those orders, but can also propose other initiatives, and evaluate their leader’s performance with a “thumbs-up” at the end of the match.

Along with this new and useful communication tool, MercurySteam is adding another highly demanded feature to Spacelords: the Character Trial. Players can now play with unrecruited characters for a limited amount of time and decide if they want to acquire them before investing Gold –Spacelords’ in-game currency– in unlocking them. The character recruiting tiers have also been simplified, with players now being able to recruit 4 new characters instead of one after hitting a certain level.

“The arrival of Team-up or Die implies better communication between new players and veterans who can now mentor them,” commented Enric Álvarez, Game Director. “Spacelords’ players have also expressed their desire to try Characters before recruiting them, and we have made good to our word of listening to our community when adding new features to the game.”

The Team-Up or Die update is now available for all PS4, Xbox One, PC players of MercurySteam’s Free to Play shooter.

Spacelords (previously known as Raiders of the Broken Planet) is currently available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
