With exciting new action-RPG gameplay, players will explore the world as a mysterious Watcher named Kagachi who is bound by duty to sever the bonds that tie the Lost to this world.

Oninaki is the third title from Tokyo RPG Factory and the studio’s first foray into the action-RPG genre, sustaining the studio’s mission in taking inspiration from classic Japanese role-playing games to create a captivating experience on modern platforms. Following the release of I Am Setsuna in 2016 and Lost Sphear in 2018, Oninaki’s inspired art direction, deep character development and captivating storyline contribute to a unique, yet familiar JRPG experience.

In ONINAKI, players will follow the story of Kagachi, a young watcher whose duty is to usher Lost Souls into the next world. After meeting a mysterious girl named Linne, his fate becomes entwined with blood and death. During the journey, players will also meet key characters like Kushi, an exemplary Watcher and trusted leader, Mayura, a Watcher with a kind heart, and the malicious Night Devil from a forgotten time.

With Kagachi’s guidance, these wandering souls in the world of the Beyond can continue the cyclical process of reincarnation over again.

The Oninaki demo (available on PSN, Steam and eShop) includes a “Story Mode” that lets you experience the opening part of an epic tale about life, death and reincarnation, and “Battle Mode” where you can enjoy thrilling combat using an upgraded character possessed by four daemons that perform different job roles. You can also carry your progress from Story Mode over to the full game.

In Oninaki, you become the Watcher Kagachi, travelling between the world of the living and beyond the veil to the world of the dead, to save the souls of the Lost. You will experience a tumultuous tale of life and death, bound to the precepts of reincarnation.

In executing his duties as a watcher and fighting the Fallen, Kagachi is possessed by the spirits of daemons, each fulfilling the kinds of “job” roles you would see in a traditional RPG.

Oninaki features exciting hack and slash style battles, with deep customization of your daemons and weapons. Experience unique action gameplay combined with a deep and satisfying story.

As players journey as Kagachi, a young Watcher who ushers Lost Souls into the next world, they will bond with and harness the power of Daemons, a special type of Lost Soul who could not be reincarnated. These powerful souls will assist the player in battle, with each Daemon representing a different weapon type. Players will be able to manage their Daemon’s skills and switch between them in real-time to deal devastating blows to their enemies with unique attacks and power up skills.

Fans excited for the upcoming release of Oninaki can also now pre-order the game physically and digitally for the Nintendo Switch and PS4, and digitally on PC (Steam). Digital pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch will give players the Ouka-Setsugetsu sword weapon, whilst players on the PS4 will get the Emrys spear weapon and an exclusive Oninaki dynamic theme. Finally, players on PC (Steam) will get the Titan axe weapon and an exclusive wallpaper. As an added bonus, all digital pre-orders of the game have a 10% discount until launch.

A limited physical version of the game for both the Nintendo Switch and PS4 system is also now available to pre-order (only in Europe), featuring a beautiful reversible sleeve featuring stunning artwork of the game’s protagonists.

Oninaki will be releasing for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC (Steam) on August 22, 2019.
