'Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls' (ALL) Finally Gets PC Date - Trailer

by Rainier on Jan. 3, 2020 @ 11:10 a.m. PST

Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls takes this classic dungeon exploration and combat system and pairs it with beautifully hand-drawn graphics presented in striking high definition, creating a seamless blend of classic gameplay with modern-day visuals.

With roots stretching back as far as 1981, Wizardry is one of gaming’s longest-standing franchises, and has rightfully earned its title as the “Granddaddy of RPGs.” A pioneer in the early days of the PC-platform RPG genre, Wizardry was one of the first games to feature gird-based dungeon-crawling, presented to players from a unique first-person perspective.

In Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls, players choose a character from a selection of five unique races, including the level-headed and well-rounded Humans, the powerful Dwarves, the magical Elves, the spiritual Gnomes and the sprightly Porklu. And in keeping with RPG tradition, each race has its own unique starting attributes that reflect specific talents and skills. Strength, vitality, agility and luck all play a role in determining the outcome of combat, while intelligence and piety dictate a character’s skills with arcane and holy magic, respectively. While a Dwarf might have high strength and vitality from the start of the game, a Gnome will have low strength, but high piety. Still, any player desiring of a challenge may attempt to create a pious priest of a Dwarf, or a mighty warrior of a Gnome – Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls affords players complete control over their characters’ development, allowing them to custom-tailor their preferred play style to each race. On top of this, the game’s eight available classes allow for even further levels of character customization.

Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls also offers a male and a female option for each of its five races, giving players a total of ten distinct choices of starting characters. Along with each of these characters comes a unique storyline, and whether it’s searching for the secrets behind a character’s past or questing for a holy artifact, hardcore RPG fans can look forward to the various tales that will unravel as they delve deeper into the game’s dungeons with a six-member party in tow, battling over 120 different monsters along the way.

Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls, the entry in the long-running dungeon crawling RPG series originally released on the PS3 in 2011, will launch on January 15 for PC via Steam and the Humble Store by Humble Bundle for $14.99, €14.99, and £12.99, with a launch week discount of 10%.

The PC release of the first-person dungeon crawler includes enhanced visuals and all previously released DLC bundled with the game, and adds in a new Turbo Mode that speeds up player’s dungeon crawling.

Key Features:

  • Your Party, Your Way: Choose from eight classes and five races to build a six-person team with diverse but complimentary skill sets. Change their classes in mid-adventure to fit your needs, or focus on leveling up their primary class to earn bonus skills for the party’s benefit.
  • So Beautiful and So Dangerous: Tangle with a menagerie of over 100 distinctive monsters, from the traditional to the bizarre, all drawn by famed series illustrator Jun Suemi. The game also features character illustrations by renowned commercial artist Yuki Hayabusa.
  • Conquer the Dungeons: Every step through the underworld is fraught with danger, and one wrong move can end your adventure. But if you have the grit to withstand what the dungeons throw at you, both you and your party will gain enough experience to stroll through them like you own them.
  • Wizardry’s Rebirth on PC: The PC remaster of this classic originally released for PlayStation 3 features English and Japanese text with the original Japanese voiceovers, high-resolution graphics, and a brand new Turbo Mode to make exploring the game’s massive dungeons a breeze. All story DLC is included, and players can download the Growth Fruit DLC for free to give themselves a boost when creating characters.
