'Mesmer' (ALL) Gets PC Release Date - Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 1, 2020 @ 6:35 p.m. PDT

Mesmer is a social survival game where every encounter matters. Influence people into following your cause, while keeping yourself out of the spotlight in a goal to build a revolution and overthrow the king.

The king of Mesmer has turned his nation into a police state. Citizens are forced into a daily curfew, and those who dissent are forced into a mindless state through a method known as “Horsing”, stripping them of all individuality and serving as a grim example to others.

The citizens are torn by social class and each seeking to bring down the king or take advantage of the situation in their own way.

You play as Teri, forced into the role of a revolutionary leader to spare yourself from a “Horsing” by the king’s men and his secret police.

Build your influence and win people to your side through charismatic charm and skillful gameplay, helpfulness, but also blackmail and threats of violence. Though beware, the city is a powderkeg and it is getting more dangerous by the day. There is no linear path for you to walk, so you have to ensure that you are prepared for what is to come.

”I was asking a wealthy merchant for funding, as I had no other means to convince him, I agreed to do him a favor. It was his birthday the next day, and he was vexed that he wouldn't have a cake to celebrate, as the bakery was on the other side of the police barricades.

Lacking money for a bribe to get the needed pass, I decided to sneak over after curfew. Of course... This meant that the bakery was closed. So, I used a set of lockpicks to break in, and found a suitable cake. Being rather large, cakes don’t go in the inventory, but are instead carried in both hands.

As I awkwardly tried to smuggle the cake back, the police spotted me and gave chase. I considered my grappling hook, but didn't want to drop the cake. After a short chase through the city, I was eventually arrested and brought in front of the chief of police. Still holding a huge birthday cake.

I bribed him with the cake....”

Under the king’s curfew, citizens must remain indoors after (time), anyone caught breaking curfew will face severe penalty.

Avoid being spotted by remaining outside of the night guard’s line of sight, grappling to the rooftops where you can’t be found or hiding behind objects. If you’re spotted you can still run, but don’t get caught or it may mean game over!

You will encounter different people and scenarios each run ensuring the gameplay will always be different and fresh!

There are five social classes each wanting to prevail in their own way and you must pick a side!

  1. The Nobility: The King is failing the nation, and it is up to us to rectify this before the city is overtaken by the common rabble and the streets run red with blood. It might be time to replace him with someone more open to their helpful instructions….
  2. The Merchants: What use is all the money in the world if the Nobles still treat us as part of the masses? It is clear to see that the King and his nobles are ill-suited to rule. It is time for those who create the wealth of the world to take their rightful place at the top!
  3. The Artisans: We are painters, poets and academics. We make up the cultural and intellectual elite. To all but the blind it should be obvious that society should be led by those that literally know better! We have to end the reign of kings and strongmen, but who would want mob rule?
  4. The Workers: We have few people of influence in our ranks, but no man ever got powerful without exploiting our sweat. Society is built on the back of the common man, and it is time that he demands his right!
  5. The Underworld: When you get right down to it, society itself is just there to keep some down and others in power. The world would be a far grander place without kings in the palace and coppers on the streets. Then each man could claim his own.
