'Not For Broadcast' Episode 2 Coming In Early 2021 - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Nov. 11, 2020 @ 7:00 a.m. PST

In this immersive, high-pressure, propaganda sim, you control what the people see and determine what's Not For Broadcast.

In a 1980s-inspired newsroom, players are thrust into the hot-seat of the National Nightly News switchboard as a strange new government comes to power.

They are tasked with mixing four live news feeds, cueing the advertisements and censoring unwanted language, all while making impulse decisions that will affect the lives of everyone they show on screen.

Mix four camera feeds, choose the headlines, bleep the bad language - all under the pressure of a live broadcast. Will you censor the news and be rewarded, or expose the truth and live with the consequences?

"Look, mate - it’s not that hard. Choose the angles, roll the ads, and bleep the swears. Just keep in mind that how you show these people will change their lives. Don’t worry - you’ll get paid either way!" - your Nightly News coworker, just before he resigned.

Publisher tinyBuild and developer NotGames have announced that Episode 2 of their satirical propaganda sim, Not For Broadcast, will be releasing near the end of January 2021.

Players are invited to take their seats back at the National Nightly News broadcast desk, and get ready to censor unwanted words, coordinate between four live feeds, dodge interference - and cut to ads when it all goes wrong.

Driven by player choices, Not For Broadcast's striking contrast of slapstick humour and political commentary has earned critical acclaim, as the propaganda sim is now beginning to reveal the dark consequences of a broadcast studio that smiles in the face of bad news.

With almost twice the content of the original Early Access launch, Episode 2 will see the strain of a tumultuous political landscape on those on-camera, in-between tongue-in-cheek musical numbers and clueless live guests. With more alternate routes to take and twisting consequences to uncover - this is the dark side of Not For Broadcast fans have been waiting for.

Creative Director, Alex Paterson, said: "With Episode 2 we’re taking everything to the next level. The production values, the performances, costumes, sets, everything is better than what players have seen previously. We shot for 6 gruelling weeks, with 70 performers, supported by 15 crewmembers in full PPE overseen by a designated Covid Officer. But we managed it. "We know people have been waiting to see some of the dark consequences we’ve been promising - and with what we have planned, we know they won’t be disappointed."

Not For Broadcast launches three chapters into Steam Early Access at £11.39 / $14.99, with plans to work towards ten complete chapters for full release., with varied consequences for your actions.
