Showtime and 343 Industries announced production on the Halo TV series is set to begin, set to be released in 2021.

Back in 2019, Showtime announced that the network has ordered a 10-episode season based on the legendary video game franchise!

Kyle Killen (Awake) will serve as executive producer, writer and showrunner. Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will direct multiple episodes and also executive produce the hour-long series, which has now begin production.

Showtime announced the Halo TV series has resumed production with Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief Spartan John-117.

Additionally, it was revealed that the series has added Jen Taylor to reprise her acclaimed role as Cortana, which she has played in all of the mainline Halo video games.

Previously Natascha McElhone was cast to play both Cortana and its creator, Dr. Catherine Halsey but due to scheduling difficulties related to the COVID-19 pandemic, McElhone will be unable to perform both duties and is being limited to her role as Halsey.

Previously Showtime announced new additions to the show’s cast, with Danny Sapani, Olive Gray, and Charlie Murphy joining the show.

Sapani will play war hero and caring father Captain Jacob Keyes, with Gray playing his daughter, Dr. Miranda Keyes, a UNSC Commander dedicated to understanding the technology, language and culture of the Covenant.

Murphy will play Makee, an orphaned human who was raised by the Covenant and shares their contempt for humanity.

The Halo TV series will be distributed globally by CBS Studios International.
