'Worms Rumble' (ALL) Gets Release Date, Rolls Out Open Beta - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Nov. 6, 2020 @ 8:14 a.m. PST

Dive into epic 32-player Battle Royale and Deathmatch modes with full multi-platform cross-play as you fight to be the last worm standing!

Worms Rumble will be the first game in the series to feature real-time combat and multi-platform cross-play, with up to 32 players able to take part in matches in a range of arena maps, including a multi-leveled shopping mall – complete with its own ballistic missile silo.

Worms Rumble will be fully-supported by ongoing, content updates featuring new arenas and customization. Players will be able to level up their Worm and progress through the ranks, earning new weapons skins and character customizations, accessories and emotes as they go.

Today’s announcement reveals some of the weapons making their way into Worms Rumble at launch later this year, including the Baseball Bat, Hand Cannon, Bazooka, Assault Rifle, and Shotgun.

Team17 has kicked off an explosive weekend with a cross-play beta for Worms Rumble on PS4 and PC (Steam) that runs until Monday, 9th November at 8:00am GMT (3:00am EDT / 12:00am PDT).

The open beta features a broad set of weapons for players to wreak havoc with, including the newly announced Sheep Launcher; Hammerhead; Sentry Turret; Plasma Blaster; and Rocket Shield, as well as supporting items like Grapple Guns and Jetpacks.

The open beta includes a previously unseen map, Transforming Towers, which sees part of the Tower transform into a giant robot worm, as well as Battle Royale modes Last Worm Standing and Last Squad Standing, joining Deathmatch.

Pre-orders for Worms Rumble are now available on Steam for $14.99/£10.99/€14.99, providing players with a plethora of exclusive cosmetic items, including an exclusive outfit, beanie, skin pattern, baseball bat skin, player banner, and challenge title.

“We’re extremely excited to throw open the doors and give players a glimpse into Worms Rumble ahead of its release next month. Worms is a huge franchise that means a lot to us, and what better way to celebrate the series’ 25th anniversary than with a title that revitalises the formula with real-time combat while retaining plenty of that classic charm we’ve come to love over years. Players will even get their hands on some iconic returning weaponry during their time in the beta!,” said Team17 Head of Studio Chris Coates.

“All of us at Team17 have had a lot of fun trying Worms Rumble out behind closed doors, and we’re ready to rumble with other fans in the beta. Whether you’re on PC or PlayStation there’s a lot to see in the beta, including dynamic maps that provide plenty of tactical options for players, not to mention cosmetics to customise your Worm and really make it your own! Get ready, because we’ll be meeting you on the battlefield,”commented Team17 Producer Danny Martin.

Worms Rumble features:

  • Worms goes real-time: Every round is in REAL TIME. When enemies rain down fire, unleash heck right back!
  • Up-to-32-player, cross-platform multiplayer: Play across PlayStation generations and PC, with Deathmatch and Last Worm Standing solo and squad battle royale modes available at launch
  • Classic Weapons/New Ways to Play: Arm Worms with new and returning fan-favourite weapons, including the Bazooka, Holy Hand Grenade, and Hand Cannon
  • Events, Challenges and ‘The Lab’: Take part in seasonal events, daily and community challenges, and experiment with new gameplay mechanics and weapons in ‘The Lab’.
  • Player Customisations: Earn XP and in-game currency to unlock and purchase weapon skins, outfits, accessories and emotes. Players create their personal style for the battlefield.

Worms Rumble is coming to PC (Steam), PS4 and PS5 in December 2020.
