'Encodya' Reveals More Game Details, Demo Next Week - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on June 10, 2020 @ 11:56 a.m. PDT

Encodya is an indie point & click adventure game in a Blade Runner alike setting, with the humor and game style of Monkey Island.

The adventure is inspired by a short film made by the same company and director, the award winning Robot Will Protect You. Encodya has the same main characters and setting.

Neo Berlin 2062. Tina – a nine-year-old orphan – lives with SAM-53 – her big clumsy robot guardian –in a rooftop makeshift shelter in Neo-Berlin, a dark megalopolis controlled by corporations. Tina is an urban jungle kid, who has learned to live alone, scavenging from city dumpsters of the dystopian city and eking out a living from scraps. Her funny robot is always with her, programmed to protect her no matter what.

One day, the little girl discovers that her father left her an important mission: to finish his plan to save the world from grayness! Tina and SAM embark on an incredible adventure across different realities full of bizarre robotic creatures and grotesque human beings. Through puzzles and exciting dialogues, they’ll find out the true meaning of being alive.

Exciting new content has been added to Encodya creating the captivating gameplay experience envisioned by the development team. Below are a few of the key features from Encodya:

  • Follow the story of Encodya told over five chapters detailing the incredible journey of the characters.
  • Explore the streets of Neo-Berlin with over 110 detailed night and day scenes.
  • A deep and captivating narrative with over 3000 lines of interactive dialogue telling an immense story.
  • With at least 8 hours playing time and 15 beautifully designed cinematic cutscenes by award-winning short and documentary director Nicola Piovesan (founder of Chaosmonger Studio), Encodya promises to be an unforgettable point & click adventure.
  • More than 30 non-playable characters bring the dystopian world to life.
Assemble Entertainment will release a demo version of Encodya during the Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition, which runs from 16 June to 22 June, 2020.

The world of Encodya is brought to life using 2.5D visuals (3D characters for smoother animations in beautifully drawn 2D environments) to create an art style fitting for this dystopian future setting.

Encodya is developed by Nicola Piovesan and Chaosmonger Studio. It’s the first big game project for what is usually an award winning film production company. Coming from the world of cinema and animation, however, is a quality statement for important elements that should identify a video game, such as the story line, visual aesthetic, acting, music and sound immersion.

Encodya is in development for PC (Steam - GOG.com), MacOS and Linux, scheduled for late 2020.
