'The Survivalists' (ALL) Gets Release Date - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 10, 2020 @ 6:00 a.m. PDT

The Survivalists is a survival-lite sandbox game set in The Escapists’ universe.

The Survivalists is a strategy, survival-lite sandbox combining crafting, building, and monkey training(!) that will see players battle against the forces of nature across procedurally-generated islands filled with different and perilous biomes, and uncover the riches – and puzzles – in temples filled with loot.

Featuring islands teeming with life and adversaries, The Survivalists takes place in a rich world that never stands still, with a day/night cycle, a broad range of animals including boars, big cats, and sharks, as well as deadly fanatics highly skilled in combat. To help with survival, the game includes a mimic system that allows players to train the local monkey population to gather resources, build structures, or even fight off threats, while a deep and comprehensive crafting system offers tantalising objects and weapons to unlock and develop.

In addition to surviving solo, The Survivalists dares players to work together in collaborative and session-based, online co-operative multiplayer.

For those eager to sample island life, a demo is now available on Nintendo Switch, and PC players can also check out a Steam demo before experiencing the adventure-filled paradise in full.

Pre-orders are now open on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One; those who reserve will receive cosmetic extras to enjoy either solo, or with up to three friends in local and online co-operative multiplayer.

Players that pre-order The Survivalists on Steam ahead of its launch later this year will get access to the Monkey Business downloadable content.

Two editions, a standard and deluxe version, are available to pre-order on Steam, with both editions giving players access to the Monkey Business downloadable content.

On completion of the DLC’s bonus quest, players can accessorize their stranded humans with three exclusive hats (Straw Hat, The Escapists Guard Hat, and Unicorn Hat) and six additional hats for their monkeys (Top Hat, Lumberjack Hat, Chef Hat, Crown, Hard Hat, and Pirate Hat). Players who pre-order The Survivalists on Steam will also be granted access to an exclusive pre-launch beta taking place two weeks before release.

As with Steam, those who pre-order The Survivalists on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One will receive the Monkey Business downloadable content pack, which provides players with additional accessories for their stranded characters (the exclusive Straw Hat, The Escapists Guard Hat, and Unicorn Hat) alongside six more hats for their monkey mates (Top Hat, Lumberjack Hat, Chef Hat, Crown, Hard Hat, and Pirate Hat).

The Escapists will also be coming soon to Apple devices – and exclusively for mobile – through Apple Arcade.

Key Features:

  • Play together and survive: Up to four players can join forces to explore the world of The Survivalists, helping each other out to stay alive
  • Get crafty and be inventive: Various items great and small can be crafted, from weapons to tools and buildings to keep your crew sheltered
  • Automate with monkeys: Enlist the help of monkeys for a number of tasks, including protecting your group and plundering resources
  • Curiosity is rewarded: Players are encouraged to explore their surroundings, where they’ll encounter dangerous wildlife, mythical enemies, and tantalizing secrets.

The Survivalists is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC (Steam) on October 9, 2020.
