'Slide' Demo Coming to Steam Next Week - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 30, 2020 @ 10:04 a.m. PDT

Slide is a couch multiplayer game where you can ride cute animals to race against your friends through dreamy tracks.

Master the dive to avoid obstacles and gain boosts, explore environments to find hidden shortcuts, use power-ups to outrun the horde. Or you can just take a tour and enjoy the view, while listening to the sympho-ethnic soundtrack. That's up to you. The game is playable up to 8 friends (or enemies) in local split-screen on Windows, Linux and MacOS. It is also accessible to beginners and kids thanks to auto-pilot options; but to win the race, you'll truly have to master the diving mechanics and many more.

Play quick & fun races with your friends. Ride cute animals through dream tracks and use 6 unfair bonuses to outrun the horde! Master the dive to avoid obstacles and gain boosts, and explore environments to find hidden shortcuts.

Or just take a tour and enjoy the view, while listening to the sympho-ethnic soundtrack. That's up to you.

Slide was first developed as a mini-game for "A Thief's Melody", a cartoon 3D adventure/stealth game currently in development at the studio. It evolved so much that it reached a point where it could be a full game by itself. Both games share the same world and the same contemplative atmosphere, as well as a focus on animals and nature.

French indie developer Oneiric Worlds announces the release of a demo of Slide on October 7th for the Steam Autumn Game Festival.

The upcoming demo will showcase 1 track among clouds, 1 playable animal (a turtle) and up to 4 players.

"I wanted to make something accessible, colorful, and with a feel-good atmosphere" said Mathias Fontmarty, developer of the game. "I also wanted to offer something in connection with nature, which led to this unusual animal cast. Plus I think turtles deserve to win races for once".

Key Features:

  • Ride Animals: Who has never dreamt of riding wildlife animals ? Now you can choose between cute and smoothly moving animals. All animals have the same stats, so it's fully a matter of personal preference. At the moment, 5 animals are available: turtle, dolphin, orca, seagull and penguin, but more will come.
  • Dive to Boost: Anytime you can choose to dive under the track; this makes you drift but you gain the classical boosts afterwards. The trick is, diving can also be done in straight line. Use it wisely to outrun your opponents! But will you be able to handle this super speed? Diving is also useful to avoid bad stuff on the track.
  • Dreamy Tracks: Tracks take place in oneiric worlds where nature is all around: from clouds amongst auroras and snowy moutain to tropical islands and celtic lands. Some tracks are totally upside down, others are more calm and contemplation-friendly. All levels offer hidden shortcuts that you'll have to discover to gain precious seconds. All tracks are made of water/clouds/leaves and other flow-esque materials to give some kind of ethereal vibe. At the moment 5 tracks are done, but more will come.
  • Bonuses: Find bonuses along the way to boost or protect yourself, or clutter the way of other players... But be careful, every trap will stay there until the end of the race. So try not to punish yourself! This can quickly become a mess and the last lap is often full of surprises.
  • Multiplayer: Play up to 8 players in local splitscreen! Steam "Remote Play Together" will be supported in a future version. The game is family friendly and offers some assistance for younger players or beginners. However, to fully master the game, you'll have to take advantages of all the controls the game offers. Easy to get, hard to master!

Slide is coming to PC (Steam) in Q4 2020.
