'Red Solstice 2: Survivors' Rolls Out v1.5 Update And Free Terminator Class, Reveals Development Roadmap

by Rainier on Aug. 5, 2021 @ 11:05 a.m. PDT

Red Solstice 2: Survivors is built on the themes of the original action strategy game and upping the mood, gameplay, and strategy elements to new levels.

Red Solstice 2: Survivors blends real-time tactical action with in-depth strategy and planning in a world where humanity’s last survivors are beset on every front. Join up to 7 friends in online co-op mode and struggle to survive as part of squad-based battles that mix the fast-paced action of Helldivers with the thoughtful strategy of games like X-COM.

Earth is destroyed but life still lingers and the player’s goal is simple... Make it out alive and help humanity survive.

It’s the year 117 After Earth, and corporations rush to secure dominance over the last remnants of humanity. It’s up to you to take command of your squad, fight the powers that be, and find a cure to the virus that threatens to end mankind.

Across both a deep strategy layer and engaging real-time combat missions, players need to think on their feet to survive in this hostile world and determine the fate of the planet. Choose your mission, design your load-out, then take to the battlefield and lead your squad to victory. Red Solstice 2: Survivors is playable in single-player or with up to seven friends where you plan your strategy to infiltrate a real-time tactical battlefield.

Can you show cunning in combat to stay alive, and fight for the future of humankind?

505 Games and Ironward released the first of two free class updates for Red Solstice 2: Survivors today alongside patch 1.5, which further improves the players’ experience - more info about it can be found on the official Steam product page.

A post-launch roadmap also dropped today which provides an overview of upcoming content for the real-time sci-fi tactical battlefield game.

A continuation of the Red Solstice series, Red Solstice 2: Survivors redefines the real-time tactical battlefield genre with single-player and co-op modes combining tense claustrophobic action with careful strategic planning. Across in-depth strategy gameplay and engaging real-time combat missions, players will need to be fast to survive this hostile world and determine the fate of Mars.

The Terminator Class provides new unique skills and is developed to survive the most lethal challenges of any battlefield. The suit abilities of the Terminator Class will charge either continuously or with each kill made, depending on setup. This additional charge is then focussed into the Terminator’s unique skills, leading to massive damage bonuses.

Fans of the series can look forward to ongoing support for Red Solstice 2: Survivors.

The upcoming updates will have additions for the Skirmish mode, including new missions, maps, monsters and much more!

And talking of our bigger updates, the free Hellfire Class update will land in the third quarter of 2021, followed by “Howell-Barrex Inc.” in Q4 of 2021. This DLC will provide a completely new campaign story, playable Exoskeletons and the highly anticipated Engineer class as well as a new tech tree.

2022 will be action-packed with three comprehensive DLCs throughout the year. The“Condatis Group” DLC will feature the Psychic class, the “Insurgents” DLC includes moddable weapons, and the “M.E.R.C.S.” DLC will focus around vehicles. All four DLCs will have their own campaign story and tech tree.

More details around the DLCs and pricing will be announced closer to the above dates.

Ironward’s focus with The Red Solstice 2: Survivors is iterating on the tight corridor combat of the original further to create what they truly believe is a great leap in claustrophobic isometric gameplay. Coupled with a focus on improved combat is the deep mood set by the sci-fi alien homage prevalent in design and a completely new layer of the strategy tools players will use in-game; adding technology development, resource collection, and world map combat mission choices.
