In Chronoscript: The Endless End, players step into the role of an editor in AD 2026 who accepts a strange assignment at a remote mountain manor. After blacking out from a mosquito bite, he awakens inside a cursed manuscript of a thousand-year tale that refuses to end. To break the cycle and bring the tale to its final chapter, players must explore the inked world, uncover hidden truths, and confront the manuscript’s corrupted denizens.

The game’s core action unfolds in a richly illustrated 2D world, while 3D elements are used for cinematic impact - appearing in cutscenes, dynamic map reveals and enemy attacks that strike from beyond the book. Brief moments even pull players into the “real” 3D world through inky rifts, but the journey always returns to the manuscript’s pages.

Chronoscript: The Endless End blends classic 2D action-adventure with fluid exploration, intense enemy encounters, and an unsettling hand-drawn style.

DeskWorks Inc. announced that Chronoscript: The Endless End will move its release window on Steam and PlayStation 5 from Fall 2026 to Early Summer 2027.

With development progressing into its final stages, the team is using the additional time to polish and refine the overall experience, with a particular focus on incorporating player feedback from the demo and improving the feel, responsiveness, and readability of the game.

“We know this means asking players to wait a little longer, and we’re truly sorry for the additional wait,” said Tom Fujii, Director at DeskWorks Inc. “The main game is now playable from beginning to end, and our focus is on refining the experience and making sure the details are right. The feedback we’ve received from everyone who played the demo has been incredibly valuable.”

Among the improvements currently being made are:

• Character actions: Faster attack recovery, improved input buffering, increased movement during attacks, faster healing, and refined sliding when turning.
• Design and readability: Improved text and character visibility, along with menu design adjustments.
• Further refinements: Additional gameplay and usability improvements are being implemented across the experience.

• Hard-hitting action: Rooted in the satisfying challenge of classic 2D action platformers, the game evolves as you play, unlocking dynamic ink-traversing moves, as well as unique abilities to be used in exploration and combat.
• Confront "The Ruined": Souls who met gruesome deaths in life have been resurrected and now stand in your way as twisted, corrupted versions of their past selves. Defeat them to unravel the tragic threads of their fate.
• Intricate artwork: The story's protagonist, enemies, and backdrops are all hand-drawn with pen and ink. The frame-by-frame animation style gives them an eerie sense of life.
• Traverse the Many Eras Depicted within the Manuscript: Within the manuscript pages lies a vast world of stories, tales written by the Vampire Mistress across a thousand years and countless lands.

Chronoscript: The Endless End is coming to PS5 and PC (Steam) in early Summer 2027.
