Last year a London Stock Exchange article revealed BugBear was bringing its destructive racing to X360 under the FlatOut: Total Carnage title, but no details as to whether this was an all new title, or maybe a bundle were available. Earlier today Empire revealed "FlatOut: Total Carnage is a re-imagining of FlatOut 2 rebuilt from the ground up and specifically developed to make use of the additional feature sets and improved processing ability of third generation technologies," and a launch date will be announced in the near future

Empire has released the first patch for BugBear's recently released racing game FlatOut 2. This v1.2 patch is for the US edition only, bringing it on par with the earlier released European version, and adds voice chat, improves multiplayer, updates gfx and fixes a bunch of crashes and bugs.

FlatOut was at best a deeply flawed game, but remarkably, the original developer has come back with a second installment that shows staggering improvement over the original. This time, Bugbear is a bit more serious about trying to deliver an authentically enjoyable racing experience, while still retaining the demented ragdoll driver-flinging wrecks that put the original title on the map. With everything from the production values to the depth of the various mini-games, FlatOut 2 is simply shaping up to be a bigger and better
