Apart from the new tracks revealed earlier today, a new Guitar Hero III update has been rolled out, which is available worldwide on the X360 and for North American PS3s (the European and Australian update has been submitted to Sony, but not approved yet). The update enables the Hyperspeed cheat in online games, adds the Co-Op Quickplay mode on PS3, calibration improvements, various stability improvements and fixes.

Harmonix created a software patch for the PS3 version of Rock Band to allow guitar compatibility for third-party peripherals, including Activision's Guitar Hero III controller. The compatibility patch was approved by Sony and had been scheduled for release on Dec. 4, but due to Activision's continued objection, the patch will not be released.

Microsoft has released a new gameplay difficulty DLC package for its RPG Blue Dragon, offering three new difficulty levels that will challenge even the most demanding fans. If RPG isn't your bag, you can also download three new songs for Guitar Hero II, as Activision has released its 3rd pack of downloadable tracks (500 Microsoft points). Unlike the previous Chemical Romance pack, these titles are from different bands, Trivium's Detonation, Atreyu's Ex's And Oh's, and Protest the Hero's Bury the Hatchet.

Red Octane has released the 4th downloadable content pack for GH 2 on Xbox Live Marketplace, offering 3 new songs (Wanna Be Sedated/The Ramones, Smoke on the Water/Deep Purple, and You've Got Another Thing Coming/Judas Priest) for 500 points ($6.25). So far more than 300,000 downloadable song packs were sold, and despite outrage from a lot of game fans, Red Octane's head of publishing Dusty Welch said it will not lower the price.
