by Rainier on March 20, 2002 @ 10:52 a.m. PST

Based on an common idea by Wanadoo and Spellbound, Robin Hood will be created in Spellbound’s studios in Kehl, Germany. The game is scheduled for release on PC and game consoles in the third trimester of 2003. Robin Hood will be the first tactical game released by Wanadoo, whose policy of releasing alternative video games has led them to identify the tactical game as one of the genres which is most popular with the wider public and casual gamers. We got some new screens showing off the current progress, and its looking GOOD!

Spellbound Entertainment AG’s CEO, Armin Gessert: “We are very happy that in Wanadoo we found a publisher who shares our philosophy of creating and delivering the most exciting and innovative games to people worldwide.” Robin Hood offers dynamic gameplay which combines stealth and action. It will immerse players in a spectacular and realistic medieval environment, from the depths of Sherwood Forest to the ramparts of Nottingham castle. The story includes all the most famous characters from the Robin Hood legend: Maid Marian, Little John, Friar Tuck, Guy of Gisborne, etc. Players will have over 40 different non-linear missions to complete: infiltration missions which will advance the story-line (e.g. sneak into York cathedral to look for a new recruit for the Merry Men); rescue missions (e.g. free Friar Tuck from the dungeons in Derby); strategic missions (e.g. sneak into and capture a fortress); and ambushes (e.g. attack a convoy).

Spellbound Entertainment AG and Spellbound Studios GmbH create innovative and highly acclaimed computergames. Founded as Spellbound Software in 1994 the company so far released “Perry Rhodan – Operation Eastside“, “Airline Tycoon“ and “Desperados – Wanted Dead or Alive“. In 2001 company founder Armin Gessert split Spellbound Software into Spellbound Entertainment, to aquire new business partners and the Spellbound Studios which are focussing on creating new games and new game concepts.
