GameTap Teams Up With Logitech

by Rainier on Jan. 18, 2006 @ 8:43 a.m. PST

GameTap announced that it has entered into a marketing agreement with Logitech, offering Logitech customers a free two-week trial of the GameTap service, along with a special discounted rate for the first three months of subscription.

GameTap is designating the Logitech® Dual ActionTM gamepad and Logitech® RumblepadTM 2 gamepad as the preferred controllers for gameplay within the GameTap service. Logitech will feature GameTap branding on packaging for the Logitech Dual Action and Logitech Rumblepad 2 gamepad. Also, Logitech will market the GameTap service in regional Web promotions. This is the first agreement with a hardware manufacturer for GameTap since its launch this past October.

"GameTap works great with mouse and keyboard, however, we know for many that using a controller enhances the game play by replicating the original experience," says GameTap General Manager, Stuart Snyder. "Since we want to offer our subscribers the ultimate gaming experience, it was important that we partner with a company that has consistently led the technology industry in innovation and product design, especially with USB controllers—Logitech fits that bill."

"GameTap is certain to inspire some nostalgia as people play some of the classic games they grew up with, along with more recent favorites," said Fred Swan, director of strategic development for Logitech's interactive entertainment products. "As the manufacturer of the platform's preferred controllers, we're excited to be working with GameTap and to help our loyal customers take advantage of this cool new service."
