Destination: Treasure Island - Anniversary Edition (PC)

Robert Lewis (later "Louis") Balfour Stevenson was born in Edinburgh on 13 November 1850. It's during the summer of 1881 that Stevenson decides to write "Treasure Island" when he discovers Lloyd, his twelve years old stepson, drawing and coloring the map of an imaginary "Treasure Island". From this moment, he starts writing this book, which will be published in 1883 and will represent the beginning of Stevenson's carrier as a profitable writer.

The story of "Treasure Island" is that of Jim Hawkins, son of the owners of "Admiral Benbow" Inn, situated in an English harbor of the 18th century. One day, one old seaman called Billy Jones arrives at the Inn becoming a long-term lodger. Jim is fascinated by the angry seaman because he seems to notice a mystery around him. At the death of Billy Jones, Jim and his mother discover in his chest a map that indicates the island where Captain's Flint group hided a fabulous treasure. Together with Doctor Livesey and the squire Telawney, a ship called "Hispaniola" is prepared to search for the treasure.

During the journey, Jim overhears a conversation between the cook, called Long John Silver and the men from the crew. He finds out that they all belonged to Captain Flint's group and they wanted to start a mutiny to get the treasure. Jim averts his companions of the danger, but they decide to wait till arriving at the island, while watching their backs. After various adventures, the treasure ends belonging to Jim and his companions. The "Hispaniola" takes again the sea with her precious cargo and returns to England, but Long John Silver succeeds on running away with a bag filled of golden pieces he had stolen during a stop of the ship.

Robert Louis Stevenson also published "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and "Prince Otto".

Four years have passed since the end of the adventure recounted in Robert Louis Stevenson's novel.

Jim Hawkins has become an upstanding adventurous young man, attentive to those around him. Imagine his surprise when, one morning, he sees a parrot enter his bedroom window: none other than Captain Flint, Long John's own companion. The bird brings him a message from his master.
