'Loading Human' Also Coming to PS4, Gets Delayed - Screens & Trailer

Loading Human is a virtual reality adventure game set in a thrilling sci-fi world.

Loading Human is a sci-fi journey wherein you play as the son of an aging scientist who has summoned you to his Arctic base for an intensive intergalactic assignment: retrieve the Quintessence, a mysterious energy source found in deep space.

With a high concept of “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind meets Monkey Island in virtual reality”, Loading Human is the evolution of the classic ‘point ‘n click’ adventure videogame, utilising the recent advancements in VR technology to provide an unprecedented level of immersion.

Loading Human, virtual reality adventure game powered by groundbreaking controls and set in a thrilling sci-fi world, also has an all-new storyline replacing the one previously shown in the proof of concept demo earlier this year. The new storyline, set in the year 2185, will immerse players in the memory fragments of young adventurer and scientist, Prometheus. The action starts at his father's North Pole research base where Prometheus will begin his training that will see him guide the spaceship Origin toward the Quintessence – a dark energy source found within the distant Eagle Nebula.

Loading Human has been developed to support the latest VR technology like the Oculus Rift & Morpheus headsets, motion-based controllers like Sixense STEM and Razer Hydra, which will simulate the player’s hand movements. The player will naturally interact with the world: pick-up objects, open them or use them just like they would in real life. Whilst experiencing Loading Human, players will hear André's thoughts, control his body with their own, and live his life while the story unravels itself around them.

Last year Loading Human transferred development from Unity to the Unreal Engine 4, and is now also approved for PS4’s “Project Morpheus” virtual reality system.

The original idea for Loading Human came from Italian actor and filmmaker Flavio Parenti (I Am Love, Le Ombre Rosse, and Woody Allen’s To Rome With Love), who became fascinated by Oculus Rift and the latest motion-control technology, seeing their potential to provide new levels of interactive immersion for a wider gaming audience. Parenti collaborated with Untold Games and a screenwriter colleague to evolve the Loading Human concept into the game it is today.

Originally scheduled for release in 2015, Loading Human is being developed for a Spring 2016 VR platform release.

"This game is a significant step in the world of virtual reality," said Christina Seelye, CEO of Maximum Games. "In Loading Human, players are completely immersed in a beautiful alternate world, interacting with the environments around them, and allowing the story to unfold by the actions they take."

Indeed, Loading Human invites players to live the adventure. While in the game, players will hear the thoughts of the main character, explore multiple locations, and even see their own rendered legs, torso, and shoulders as they move around within the various locales. Running on the Unreal 4 engine, Loading Human is graphically stunning and has a fluidity that adds to the game's realism.

One of the main objectives for Flavio Parenti, CEO of Untold Games, was to build a game that felt like an escape into a mysterious, yet emotionally real world. "We want gamers to experience the storyline in a very interactive and absorbing way," said Parenti. "There is a feeling of getting lost in the game, so that you actually forget you are playing and, instead, are simply living the story."
