In keeping with Blizzard's aggressive stance against cheating in World of Warcraft, it have permanently closed more than 18,000 accounts over the past three months for participating in activities that violate the game's Terms of Use. A majority of these accounts were found to be using third-party programs to farm gold and items. Such actions can severely impact the economy of a realm and the overall game enjoyment for all players. Read more about it on the official WoW website.

Blizzard announced that the WoW v1.9 public test realms are now live, and that players can transfer characters over to the test realms and try out all the changes and additions coming in the next content patch, The Gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Map info: "The Cult of the Damned was known for massacring remote villages to supply their ghoulish experiments with innocents. With aerial support you can send the lieutenants of their latest raid back to Hell." This is a small map size and the suggested no. of players is 1v1. It is based on the "Cityscape" tileset.

Map info: " The object is to crush your opponent's Candy Mages who channel an invulnerable shield around their Candy Vault. Once the Candy Mages are down, destroy their Candy Vault to win! This year's version features updated hero abilities, new items, and faster paced gameplay." This is a medium map size and the suggested no. of players is 4v4 or 5v5. World of Warcraft has been a worldwide success and enabled Vivendi Universal Games to return to profitability. VUG's earnings operations were EUR 13 million, compared to a loss of EUR 168 million in the first half of 2004, mainly due to the increase in net sales and reduced operating expenses as a result of the recovery plan introduced in 2004, but also benefited from the worldwide success of World of Warcraft (4 million players at the end of August) and a strong increase of subscriptions with higher margins.
