Rumored a few months ago, Ubisoft's Q1 sales report confirms that Splinter Cell has been delayed and is now scheduled for fiscal year 2009-2010, meaning not before April 1st, 2009.

Xbox World 360 print magazine that is because Ubisoft has sent the title back to the drawing board, forcing a delay until as late as early 2010. More details expected at the UbiDays end of this month.

Ubisoft producer and technical director Dany Lepage seems to be firm about the
multiplatform future of Splinter Cell Conviction, saying that "It’s NEVER gonna come out on the PS3 or the Wii. It’s a logical decision," further implying that Nintendo’s console doesn’t have the graphical horsepower, and the PS3 can’t handle AI nearly as well as the 360. Let's wait a few days and see if Ubisoft issues a clarification or downright retraction of that statement.

Ubisoft released its sales figures for Q1 ended June 30, 2007, reporting that sales came to $180.66M, up 90.5% compared with the same period last year, driven by Rainbow Six Vegas, Surf's Up, and its back catalog. Unfortunately, it also revealed that Splinter Cell Conviction has been delayed until January-March of 2008.

Unlike most other titles in the franchise, Conviction will mostly play out during the day, and this time Sam Fisher teams up with Third Echelon to help Anna Grimsdottir, Sam's former intelligence gathering operative, who is in trouble. A little while ago, Splinter Cell: Conviction vanished off the radar. It was originally supposed to come out in 2007, and there were even screenshots and videos of the game, which starred a long-haired, hobo-esque Sam Fisher who seemed to be very similar to Jason Bourne. However, sometime before the release, the game was quietly put on hold, and all info about it seemed to vanish. The Beijing Morning Post is reporting that an online gamer in China's northeast was killed by his girlfriend for spending too much time playing online games, Beijing Morning Post reports. According to the report, the couple moved to Beijing to earn money for their wedding, but the boyfriend began playing online games after he was unable to find a job. The girlfriend killed her boyfriend during a fight on August 6.

A recent case of suicide by a boy addicted to Internet games has increased the public's concern over the issue of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD). Xiao Yi, a 13-year-old from Tianjin, committed suicide thinking that he would meet his friends from cyber space after he died.
