The official ANNO 1503 website has word that Sunflowers has cancelled the Anno 1503 multiplayer patch (already in development since August 2003). After more than 20 attempts they could not get the multiplayer patch/addon to work for more than 2 hours gameplay time and thus decided to call it quits (thanks Gamestar.de). You can read more about it on the German Anno 1503 website.

Max Design and SUNFLOWERS will be providing ANNO 1503 players the multi-player mode free of charge. Fans will be able to download the multi-player update free of charge once the comprehensive test phase has been completed. This week Max Design and SUNFLOWERS will begin an external test in which already chosen participants will subject the ANNO 1503 multi-player mode to weeks of exhaustive testing. This test will then be expanded to a public test. Interested parties will soon be able to register on the official ANNO 1503 website at www.anno1503.com. Under development at Interactive Vision, Global Star plans to incorporate all the features of the popular original Airport Tycoon, and its sequel Airport Tycoon 2, while adding scores of new features and improvements. Unreal Tournament 2004 and the game is listed as being released 18th November 2003. Can we expect announcement of this game at E3? It was stated before the release of Unreal Tournament 2003 that there would be a yearly update a la Fifa, so this could very well be!
