Capcom promised it would have a big announcement this week, and with Bionic Commando it sure seems to have kept its word, but if you thought that was it, you're sorely mistaken. In its booth Capcom will feature open gaming stations for attendees to go hands-on with Zack & Wiki, Harvey Birdman, Mega Man Star Force and Mega Man ZX Advent, Ace Attorney, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Rocketmen and Moto GP. Capcom confirmed that it has secured the PlayStation format rights to publish official videogames based on the adrenaline fuelled motor sport, MotoGP. The first game to be published under the terms of this agreement will be MotoGP ’07 (working title) due for release this autumn on the PS2.

Capcom hired former THQ representative Germaine Gioia as senior vp licensing, where she will expand Capcom's Hollywood presence. After reasonable success with the Resident Evil movies, and the upcoming Street Fighter and Onimusha flicks, Gioia will shop around deals regarding other original franchises suitable for the silver screen.

Capcom's President and CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto made a few interesting statements during the company's annual report. Because of the higher next-gen development costs, Capcom intends to implement a multi-platform strategy, marketing a single title for different game consoles, thereby expanding sales and optimizing profits. A new multiplatform development engine has been created to further improve efficiency. Capcom believes the next-generation game consoles market is declining, while online games, especially PC, are growing rapidly, so a new company will be established, first in Asia, to explore that trend.

Capcom has signed an agreement with Hyde Park Entertainment to produce a follow up to the 1994 original
Street Fighter movie, then starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. While the first movie featured most of the game's characters, the sequel will focus on the game's most popular female fighter, Chun Li, but the exact storyline is being kept under wraps. The new Street Fighter movie is scheduled for 2008, the 20th anniversary of the game franchise.
