100 Nintendo DS Titles Expected by Year's End

Publishers and developers worldwide will release more than 100 new Nintendo DS games in 2006. Nintendo will be releasing some big fan favorites, including the New Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Donkey Kong: King of Swing DS, and more. On June 11, Nintendo DS Lite joins Nintendo's video game family when it launches in the Americas. The lighter, brighter version of the hot-selling Nintendo DS is expected to be priced as low as $129.99 at retailers throughout the United States. The inaugural color is an elegant Polar White with a raised DS logo on the cover.

The success of Nintendogs continues to go from strength to strength for Nintendo with the latest sales across Europe reaching 2 million since its launch on the Nintendo DS on the 7th October 2005. The innovative software has expanded the gaming population by attracting new audiences, including many female purchasers. German based Radon Labs announced that it has received Nintendo DS Dev-Kits and is now included in the circle of official Nintendo-Developers. Develop on its own original game ideas for Nintendo DS and port in the Nebula2 Engine are in full swing. In the near future the DS-Port for the NEBULA2 Engine and the "NEBULA2 toolkit for Maya" will be commercially available additionally for other developers. This extension prepares for further ports to next-generation consoles (X360, PS3).

Nintendo Japan announced today it will launch a high-end version of its Nintendo DS portable game machine on March 2 in Japan, which will be thinner and lighter than the existing model. The Nintendo DS Lite will be sold for 16,800 yen ($145) versus 15,000 yen for the existing model, and weighs 218 grams compared to 275 grams for the Nintendo DS.
