28 September 2001 – Ubi Soft® Entertainment has signed a deal to bring one of the first role playing games to Nintendo’s new GameCube console system. Ubi Soft has purchased the rights from Entertainment Software Publishing, Inc., to publish Evolutiaon Worlds, the next instalment in the popular Evolution series. The game will be published by Ubi Soft worldwide, except for Japan, China, Korea and Taiwan, in the 1st Half of 2002.
Ubi Soft plans to build on the success it has achieved with Evolution: The World of Sacred Device™ and Evolution2: Far Off Promise™ for Sega Dreamcast™ by bringing this popular franchise to a next generation system. This type of game will showcase the advanced technology offered by Nintendo’s GameCube. Stunning graphics will offer the crispest detail and guarantee a great looking RPG adventure. The game is being planned by ESP and developed by Sting, best known for its Evolution series. With this deal, Ubi Soft will strengthen its catalogue of RPG titles, that include: Evolution and Evolution 2 for Sega Dreamcast™, Grandia™II for Sega Dreamcast™, Pool of Radiance, Jade Cocoon 2 and Grandia™ II .
Ubi Soft is developing games for every next generation system, including Nintendo’s GameCube, Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance, Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation®2. Ubi Soft currently has 19 GameCube titles in production around the world in its internal studios.
