THQ ANNOUNCES NEXT INSTALLMENT FOR MX FRANCHISE
Next Game in Successful Motocross Series Coming to PlayStation 2, Xbox and Gamecube
“After successful launches on PlayStation 2 and Xbox last year, we are now bringing our MX franchise to all the next generation systems in 2002,” said Alison Locke, executive vice president, North American publishing. “This latest installment will once again showcase the sport’s number one pro rider, Ricky Carmichael, along with a host of enhanced features and a high-flying freestyle mode.”
“Our next MX title will continue the success of the franchise by building on all of the racing action and features from last year’s game with a more robust freestyle mode and an expanded career mode,” said Don Traeger, president, Pacific Coast Power & Light Co. “With 22 new tracks and numerous wide-open freestyle worlds to explore, this will be the most in-depth and adrenaline pumping MX game to date.”
About MX
The next installment of THQ’s MX series is the most complete motocross game to date. This year’s edition boasts several new features, including an enhanced freestyle mode with all new tricks, expansive environments and wide-open worlds for gamers to explore. A powerful freestyle stunt track editor allows players to create and design the ultimate motocross course. The game’s expanded career mode allows riders to upgrade their bikes with tuning parts based on monetary earnings accrued throughout the course of their career. MX also features numerous mini-games, such as “target jumping” where riders must jump onto specific targets for rewarded points. Visual enhancements to the game’s graphics engine include new particle effects, reflection mapping and dirt accumulation on riders making MX one of the most realistic looking motocross games to date.
About Ricky Carmichael
In 1998, Ricky Carmichael was the first rider in history to win every race in the 125cc Supercross Series, winning the Eastern Regional title and the East-West Shoot-Out in Las Vegas. Since turning professional in 1996, Carmichael has six National Championships to his credit. He has dominated the 125cc class like no other rider in the history of the sport and this past season clinched both the 250cc class Outdoor National title and 2001 Supercross Series Championship.
