This massively multiplayer, first-person role playing adventure - which has already proved ridiculously popular since its release earlier this month in Germany - allows players to live virtual lives in a Cyberpunk city, and is the first online role-playing game to portray the action through the eyes of its citizens.
Players live in virtual apartments, and earn virtual credits by completing missions and tasks. An integral e-mail system allows players to communicate with anyone else living with the world of Neocron. The world continues 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Of course, conflict and combat play a vital role, with players even able to join rival factions in order to further political careers. Vehicles such as cars and motorbikes can be purchased, too, generating a whole new breed of virtual boy racers.
"With broadband now delivering high-speed Internet access to over 1,000,000 homes in the UK, it's time for massively multiplayer gaming to truly come of age - and Neocron is the perfect title to kick-start this revolution," says Terry Malham, president, CDV Software Entertainment UK. "It is a game unlike any other, and we can't wait to see how UK games-players react to its arrival."
The UK release follows the game's launch in Germany. Over the coming weeks, the rest of Europe will be granted access to Neocron. The US will follow in November.
Neocron will be available on Friday, 18th October, priced £29.99.
