'Lynx' Wireless Controller For Xbox

by Thomas on Nov. 27, 2002 @ 2:28 p.m. PST

Mad Catz announced today the launch of the company's first Lynx wireless controller for the Xbox video game system from Microsoft. This is the second in the Mad Catz family of Lynx wireless controllers that was first introduced last July with the Lynx wireless for PlayStation 2, PS one and PlayStation. The Mad Catz Lynx wireless controller for Xbox is currently available in major retail stores for a suggested price of $59.99 (U.S.).

With the Lynx wireless controllers, Mad Catz has developed an easy solution for gamers who want consistent, continuous play without being restricted by cables.

"As the leader in the video game accessories market, Mad Catz has expanded its line of next-generation wireless controllers to develop the company's first wireless controller for Xbox," said Darren Richardson, President and COO of Mad Catz, Inc. "Coming on the heels of the tremendous success of our Lynx wireless controller for PlayStation®2, launching the Lynx wireless controller for Xbox was a logical next step for us. Now Xbox gamers can experience the same comfort and accuracy of a corded controller with the freedom of a wireless control pad."

"Mad Catz has always delivered quality products and the Lynx for Xbox is no exception," continued Mr Richardson. "We are continuing to raise the bar with innovative video game accessories by creating the ultimate, wireless gaming environment."

The Lynx wireless controller features state-of-the-art, unblockable radio frequency (RF) technology. This RF technology provides gamers with complete freedom of movement by allowing a wireless range of up to 50 feet from the console. Mad Catz uses a fully integrated single chip RF solution provided by Micro Linear Corporation in its Lynx for Xbox. This cost-effective technology, gives the Lynx unparalleled performance and conserves power to extend the battery life - up to 160 hours without vibration.

The Lynx wireless controller for Xbox also includes the following features:

Up to four (4) Lynx controllers connected to a single Xbox

Macro buttons which program button combinations

Dual expansion slots on the base unit connected to the Xbox

Analog triggers and action buttons

Grooved rubber grips

Dual vibration feedback

Gameplay up to 50 feet from game system

Up to 50 hours of continuous game play with vibration and up to 160 hours without vibration (3 AA batteries) - longer than any other wireless controller on the market.
