3DO CREATES WINNING TEAM FOR WORLD CUP 2002!!
As England’s finest groom themselves for the 2002 World Cup finals, 3DO sign Sven Goran Eriksson and Anco Software to create winning World Cup titles.
3DO Europe’s Managing Director Rob McGrath explained his new signing: "3DO is delighted to have secured the publishing rights to Sven Goran Eriksson's World Cup Challenge and World Cup Manager products. We are looking forward to continuing to build on the foundations created from the very successful Alex Ferguson range, and to further expanding on the cross-promotional and branding opportunities outside of the games industry which such a strong license allows.
Both games will have very competitive price points and the official endorsement of Sven Goran Eriksson. With exclusive access to England's World Cup manager and pre-Easter release dates slated, we will appeal to the broadest football fan base, both casual and hardcore".
World Cup Manager, aimed at would-be Svens, will give players the chance to manage the England squad in friendly games, through the gruelling European qualification stages and, ultimately, to the World Cup Finals tournament itself. Under the pressure of the constant scrutiny of both the FA and the press, players will need to spot the in-form talent before each game, arrange tactics and coaching schedules, make selections according to FIFA deadlines and, of course, ensure that the team can cut the mustard every single time, as ENGLAND EXPECTS!
For arcade fans, World Cup Challenge is a fast-paced, 3D side-view footy game giving players the chance to take on the best from across the globe and win glory as World Cup Champions 2002! Features include a host of new and innovative moves, as well as classic headers, volleys, overhead kicks, one-twos and through balls. As with the Management outing, World Cup Challenge will give players the chance to design tactics and give individual instructions to players, and will come complete with Player Editor options.
Sven Goran’s World Cup Manager and World Cup Challenge are scheduled for simultaneous release on PSX1 and PS2 in all English speaking territories including UK, Australia and Ireland plus Scandinavia in April 2002, giving gamers plenty of chance to practice before the real event kicks off.
Continuing its successful partnership with Britsoft developer Anco Software, creators of the successful Alex Ferguson’s Player Manager series, 3DO will look to support the new products with major lifestyle, specialist and mainstream PR and marketing campaigns, as part of which, Sven will be putting his name to exclusive associated game merchandise and will be appearing on behalf of 3DO at a number of yet to be arranged press conferences as the titles near completion.
A delighted Saul Leese, Anco Marketing Director, commented: “3DO have already made a significant impression on Anco with the quality of work they’ve done on the Alex Ferguson range and it makes perfect sense to work with them on Sven. We’re confident that they can make a real success with this next Easter!”
