3DO Ships Army Men(R): RTS for PlayStation(R)2 Computer Entertainment System and PC

The Popular Army Men Brand Takes On the Real-Time Strategy Genre

The Army Men: RTS game has received high praise from leading gaming magazines and websites. The Official PlayStation Magazine said in a recent preview, ``It's such a wonderful surprise to see how well the Army Men universe lends itself to RTS gameplay -- it's quite charming actually ... (I)t's the little touches that really make the game cool.'' GameSpy concluded, ``These plastic soldiers certainly look fantastic in this latest outing.''

Bringing the popular real-time strategy genre to the Army Men brand, the Army Men: RTS game forces players to think about how to strategically build and manage troops, vehicles, and buildings while involved in a full-out war in a fully three-dimensional environment. Intuitive controls and a comprehensive tutorial make it easy for everyone to join in the battle.

The Army Men RTS game for the PlayStation 2 system features controls that are especially player-friendly. ``Other real-time strategy games have been awkward to play on console systems because they try to mimic the PC interface,'' says Josh Resnick, president of Pandemic Studios. ``We designed this interface from the ground up with a controller in mind.''

In addition to 15 action-packed missions in Campaign mode and eight quick-start Great Battles missions in both games, the PlayStation 2 game includes eight exclusive Special Operations missions and unlockable Intelligence Files. The PC game allows players to join their friends over Internet or LAN either as teammates or in head-to-head battle in 10 multiplayer maps.
