First Screenshots For AquaNox: Revelation

by Thomas on July 23, 2002 @ 4:21 p.m. PDT

JoWooD Productions Ltd and in-house developer Massive Development have published the first screenshots of their underwater action game AquaNox: Revelation, which is due for release in Q4 this year. Collapsed rock pillars, naturally formed bridges, giant boulders and half sunken buildings bring AquaNox: Revelation's undersea surroundings to life. The occasional desolate ruin tells of a long-abandoned settlement.

This is the underwater world of Aqua: rays of sunlight break through the layers of algae, bathing the cold depths in an eerie twilight. Brand new landscapes exhibit amazing underwater lighting with stunning iridescent sea floor effects which all help set the ambient scene in the world of Aqua.

As Oliver Weirich, Art Director of Massive Development states: "It is very important for us to render the landscapes as realistically as possible. The player should recognize that the territories have had a history before he came there: half sunken buildings and overturned rocks create authenticity, orientation and the possibility for advanced tactical elements during the missions."
