Enix Adds Hollywood Touch to 'Grandia Xtreme' PS2

by Thomas on Aug. 6, 2002 @ 7:35 p.m. PDT

Providing a crucial element in the overall game-play experience, Enix America Inc. today announced that it has signed Mark Hamill, Dean Cain and Lisa Loeb to provide in-game voices for Grandia Xtreme, its highly anticipated role-playing game for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system. Shipping in September, Grandia Xtreme is the first original Grandia title for the PlayStation2.

"We are extremely pleased to have Mark Hamill, Dean Cain, and Lisa Loeb as integral members of the Grandia Xtreme team and are thrilled with the work they have accomplished," said Paul Handelman, president of Enix America. "Consumers today demand a total experience from their favorite games and utilizing the talents of such accomplished professionals increases the quality of the gaming experience and brings the characters to life in an exciting new way."

In Grandia Xtreme, actor Mark Hamill expertly assumes the role of Colonel Kroitz, the Supreme Commander and a cruel and dangerous leader with little concern for his men. Colonel Kroitz is filled with a fierce loathing for the hero, Evann, who is played by actor and TV personality, Dean Cain. Evann is a cocky kid with a turbulent past who spearheads the quest to right the Elemental imbalance within the world. He is also a Ranger, a rare breed blessed with the ability to teleport parties between Geo Gates.

Rounding out the high-profile cast is Lisa Loeb who provides the voice-over talent for Lutina, confident officer of an elite Arcadian unit and the heroine of the story. Best known for her musical ability, Loeb has also recently been tabbed to provide one of the character voices for the Spider-Man animated TV series coming this Fall.

Grandia Xtreme for the PlayStation(R)2 is scheduled to ship this September and carry an estimated retail price of $49.99.
