by Thomas on Sept. 9, 2002 @ 4:18 p.m. PDT

PlayStation 2 gamers will soon be dancing to a new beat thanks to the revolutionary music mixing game ‘Ministry of Sound BPM: Build Play Mix’. A collaboration between Start! games, Intelligent Games and music masters Ministry of Sound, the game will offer music fans the chance to remix well known music, create their own tracks playback their mixes against a background of challenging graphic visualisations.

Ministry of Sound is now one of the world’s largest independent record labels and powerful dance music brand, operating the UK’s most famous club. The licensing agreement is part of an overall strategy by Ministry of Sound, in partnership with specialists The Licensing Company to develop a full brand extension programme that will take the brand into new music and lifestyle areas.

The cutting-edge Ministry of Sound game will enable users to bring the house down thanks to awesome tunes exclusively selected by the music maestros.

In all, Ministry of Sound BPM boasts six complete, cutting edge tracks - and all their samples - from some of the most respected artists in the business. So whether they’re into house, techno, or garage, music aficionados of all kinds can create a range of kicking tunes with a professional feel.
Ministry of Sound BPM is the industry’s first release to be fully funded - from concept through to completion - by Start! Games. It is the handiwork of renowned developer Intelligent Games and promises a broad range of music lovers an intense aural experience.

For Shahid Ahmad, MD at Start! , Ministry of Sound BPM highlights exactly why the company was founded in the first place. “When Intelligent Games came to us with the concept we were immediately hooked. Other publishers may have baulked at the idea of such an original and exciting project, but we liked it so much we created a joint venture, MixMax Ltd. to properly fund and market it. It’s a new way of working for us, but highlights our faith in the project and guarantees it the support it unquestionably deserves.”

Never before have such high quality tracks been offered in a game of this ilk and Intelligent Games’ Sales & Marketing Director, Neil Jones-Cubley recognises the importance of Ministry of Sound in putting together the impressive play list. “When we first discussed working with Ministry of Sound we understood their expertise in selecting the hottest tracks. There are other music mixing games out on the shelves, but how many can boast six tracks and thousands of samples exclusively selected by the biggest name in the business? By working with people who know the music industry better than anyone and offering high quality tracks from respected artists we’re confident of reaching a much wider audience.”

For C.M Harper, Director of Strategic Brand Partnerships at Ministry of Sound, the company’s inaugural step into game development is clearly an exciting one. “This is an exhilarating new direction for Ministry of Sound and completely in line with our overall brand extension programme. Console gaming is a key area that we have been keen to explore but have been waiting for exactly the right opportunity. We’re extremely protective of our brand and will only get involved in projects that are right for our audience. We’ve been really impressed with what Intelligent Games and Start! have achieved. With their development expertise and our knowledge of the music industry this is going to be an unforgettable experience for bedroom DJs around the world.”
